“Being a leader of color is a minefield. There is no roadmap, no familiarity with your leadership style by white or Black people. And the biggest hurdle is that cognitive dissonance.”
NEW REPORT: BMP is pleased to release "Trading Glass Ceilings for Glass Cliffs," a new report that highlights the complexities and challenges BIPOC nonprofit leaders face while serving as or transitioning into executive director roles.
In addition to quotes and testimonials (like the one above), the report also provides data on the added demands on EDs of identity-based organizations, the challenges that BIPOC leaders face when taking over from white predecessors, and other realities of being a leader of color in the nonprofit sector.
"Trading Glass Cliffs for Glass Ceilings" concludes with opportunities for change. What supports do leaders of color need? How can funders aid in effective leadership transitions? Learn more and download the full report here: https://racetolead.org/ceo-2019/
