Thank you to the Kennett Trails Alliance and Square Roots Collective, and all who made this transformation possible. 🤝It was a joy to join local businesses to welcome the public to the new space!

We serve dozens of men overcoming homelessness out of our Kennett Square housing every year and are grateful for the support of our community who allows it all to happen.

It’s hot outside! ☀️Both Chester and Lancaster counties are under a heat advisory right now, and that has a big impact on our neighbors currently facing unsheltered homelessness.

Want to help? A cold bottle of water goes a long way! 💧 Our Outreach Resource Coordinator is looking for bottles of water and electrolytes to hand out to our neighbors in need this summer and ensure they stay hydrated and safe.

We need a new washing machine! The washer at one of our Ephrata locations has reached the end of its life, and we are looking for a replacement.

Double the reason to celebrate! 🎉🎉

Garrett has been faithfully putting aside funds every month into savings and recently met his goal, an amount we were excited to match through our Matched Savings Program.

And that’s not all. 🥳 This month, Garret also celebrated one year of sobriety!

Garrett came to Good Sam several months ago after facing homelessness and has since worked his way through our program. Both milestones reflect all the hard work and perseverance he has put into regaining stability, and we are incredibly proud to walk beside him in this journey.👏

A friend of Good Sam recently volunteered to take some of the men in our Ephrata men’s housing to a Reading Fightin Phils game, thanks to donated tickets!

These guys are working hard to reach stability and opportunities like this are a reminder that they are supported and cared for, not to mention a much needed break.

We’re so grateful for volunteers and supporters who make experiences like this possible. 🤝 Small acts of kindness can make a big difference, and this one was a home run! ⚾️

Let’s break some stereotypes 💥Loudness is not always what we think it is.

Because of their environment, those raised in poverty may have a tendency to speak at a louder volume than those raised in a middle-class or wealthier home. 🔉

Of course, there are exceptions to this, but it brings up an important question: When interacting with those who come from a different background than us, how does our experience shape how we view those around us?

🧡 Let’s listen well and respond with compassion instead of judgment as we love our neighbors in need.

When a volunteer group wrote this birthday card, they had no idea the impact it would have. 🎉

Angie came into a case management meeting one day, overwhelmed and sad. She has been working hard to reach stability through our Supportive Housing program, a process that is far from easy.

The week had been extra hard. Her birthday had come and gone without anyone acknowledging it. As someone who always makes sure people are celebrated, it left her feeling sad and overlooked.

But our staff had something special to give her, a birthday card signed and written for her by volunteers from a local church. They wrote her a personalized card AND chose one with a cat, her favorite animal. She immediately broke down in tears.

She felt seen. 💙

A month later, Angie still carries the card in her purse because of how much it meant to her, a reminder of how the smallest gestures can make the biggest difference. ✨

Our staff spent Wednesday cleaning and putting some extra love into one of our new Phoenixville houses to make it feel a little more like home. 🏠

Only a bit more work to do and we’ll be ready to welcome up to 7 single women facing homelessness into this home and walk beside them on their journey to stability!
