🚨 THAT LITTLE BATTERY COULD BURN DOWN YOUR HOME. 🔥🔋
Your phone. Laptop. Power tools. E-bike. Scooter. Kids' toys.
Lithium-ion batteries are everywhere—and most of us never think twice about them.
Until something goes wrong.
⚠️ A damaged, defective, overheated, or improperly charged battery can ignite in seconds and produce an intense fire that can spread incredibly fast.
Before you plug in tonight, remember:
❌ Don't charge damaged or swollen batteries.
❌ Don't use the wrong charger.
❌ Don't charge batteries while you're sleeping.
❌ Don't leave e-bikes or scooters charging unattended.
❌ Don't ignore unusual heat, odor, swelling, or hissing.
✅ Charge safely. Stay nearby. Keep exits clear.
Your battery might be small.
The fire it creates isn't.
🔥 One safe charging habit could save your home—and your life.
Swiftwater Training: Prepared for the Challenge
Last week local crews participated in hands-on swiftwater rescue training, sharpening the skills needed to operate safely and effectively in fast-moving water emergencies.
Training focused on water rescue techniques, team coordination, equipment use, scene safety, and making sound decisions in challenging conditions. These skills are critical when seconds matter and conditions can change rapidly.
A special thank-you to everyone who helped make this training possible and to our firefighters for their continued commitment to professional development and public safety.

It’s National Fire Prevention Week, and this year’s message is all about something we do every day: charging our devices safely.
Phones, tablets, laptops and other rechargeable devices are part of our everyday lives, but improper charging can create serious fire hazards.
🔌 Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
⚡ Replace damaged cords or chargers.
🛏️ Avoid charging devices under your pillow, on your bed or on a couch.
👀 Keep charging devices where you can see them and unplug them when they’re fully charged.
A few simple habits can help keep your home, family and community safe.

🚒🐄 Talk about an unusual rescue!
Our Fire Rescue team was called out by Animal Control to help rescue a cow that had fallen into a ditch.
It may not be the typical call, but our crews are always ready to lend a hand - no matter the size of the rescue! 💪🐄
