NOTE: The address listed is our mailing address. We do not have a physical building as we are an all foster home organization. East and Ave R every Saturday. .

Ruff Patches is an all volunteer-run animal welfare and advocacy organization. Ruff Patches is dedicated to keeping pets in homes! We provide food to low income pet owners, provide behavior support and veterinary support when we have the funds. Of course, we also rescue homeless animals and find them new, loving homes. We hold adoptions at Petsmart at 47th St.

Same family. Completely different operating systems. 💻️

Jean Grey sees something new and thinks, “Excellent. I’ll investigate.”

Bereet sees something new and thinks, “I’ll wait here while my sis investigates.”

Jean Grey handles exploration. Bereet handles risk assessment. Together, they have created a perfectly balanced sisterhood.

These bonded sisters may approach the world differently, but they rely on each other completely. Jean Grey is the outgoing adventurer, while Bereet prefers to let her sister confirm that everything is safe before joining in.

They already chose each other. Now they need someone to choose them both.đź’•

Jean Grey and Bereet have been together their whole lives and we won't separate them now. Could your home be the next chapter in their shared adventure?

Learn more and apply at RuffPatches.org/adoptions.

Now tell us: when something unexpected happens, are you Jean Grey or Bereet?

Ayesha did not become a diva. She arrived that way. đź‘‘

From tiny kitten to gorgeous adult, she has always had the face, the presence, and the personality.

Ayesha was adopted as a kitten, but was later returned to us due to behavior issues. She is one of our special permanent residents now, and she will always be safe, loved, and cared for here.

We are happy to continue serving her dramatic little heart.

We are also so grateful to all of you who donate and support Ruff Patches. Because of you, cats like Ayesha always have a place to land, even when life does not go as planned.

Your support helps us care for animals who need extra patience, understanding, and lifelong sanctuary.

Please enjoy Ayesha’s tiny-to-diva transformation with us.

Charity is usually a tiny, quiet little lady.

Usually.

Apparently today she had notes.

We do not know the full list of demands, but based on the volume, we assume they involve snacks, service quality, and several household policies that are currently under review.

Please respect her process during this important leadership moment.

Castiel is accepting applications for staff.

Position overview:
Manage one opinionated cat.
Decode frequent commentary.
Redirect tiny chaos as needed.

Castiel is talkative, playful, smart, and very committed to having opinions. He is also an excellent little hunter, so wand toy skills are not optional. If you wave the toy, he expects you to bring passion, commitment, and ideally a believable prey arc.

He is still working on his manners. In his previous life, someone taught him that hands were part of playtime, and Castiel has had to learn that hands are for petting, feeding, and signing adoption paperwork, not for wrestling.

He has come a long way, but he needs an adult-only home with someone who understands cats, respects boundaries, and can help him keep learning without taking his spicy little moments personally.

Castiel is not looking for someone who wants a perfect cat.

He is looking for someone who sees a funny, chatty, opinionated little character and thinks, “Yes. That one. I understand the assignment.”

Castiel is adoptable through Ruff Patches.

The Ruff Patches Adoption Committee has officially convened for California Adopt-a-Pet Day. All adoption fees are waived!

Their agenda includes snacks, naps, productivity supervision, gentle mayhem, exploration, playtime, emotional support, and the occasional extremely important chaos.

Our adoptable cats are not just looking for any home. They are looking for the right home.

Connor, Caitlyn, Bereet, Jean Grey, Watson, Sherlock, and Castiel all have different personalities, needs, and love languages. Some need a quiet space. Some need a buddy. Some need patient people who understand that trust can take time. Some are ready to bring the fun.

All of them deserve to be seen for exactly who they are.

So today, we want to know:

Which Adoption Committee member would fit best in your home?

Tell us in the comments, and visit RuffPatches.org/adoptions to learn more about our adoptable cats.

Happy 4th birthday, Watson! đź’›

Watson is celebrating another trip around the sun with his usual calm, sweet, slightly mysterious energy.

He enjoys lounging in sunny spots, play sessions, head rubs, snack-based enrichment, and pretending he is far too dignified for nonsense while absolutely participating in the nonsense.

Watson came to Ruff Patches after showing up at a volunteer’s door, and he has been waiting for the right home to find him.

He would love a calmer home where he can relax, feel safe, and be appreciated for the gentle, handsome guy he is.

Happy birthday, Watson. We hope 4 is the year your forever family finds you.

Tiny jobs they take very seriously:

Keeping beds warm.
Supervising breakfast.
Inspecting blankets.
Monitoring human morale.
Reminding us why we do this.

Some of the animals at Ruff Patches are adoptable. Others are forever residents who need long-term safety, care, and a place where they can simply be themselves.

And honestly? They may be doing tiny jobs, but they fill this house with a whole lot of love.

Tiny jobs. Big hearts.
