We are sad to announce that Sanctuary Pug, Teddy, crossed the 🌈 bridge. He was a sweet 16 year old little Pug man who showed his foster family as much love as they showed him. Please keep his foster family and his sister, Bella in your ❤️ as they are dealing with a big void without him. RIP and run free Teddy 💔

🐶 Meet Carl!

"This is my sweet Carl. He celebrated his 16th birthday on Jan 3rd. Sadly, he crossed the rainbow bridge Feb 10th and left a huge, irreversible void in our hearts. He LOVED treats, bite bites, and his mommy (me). We miss his “sassy barks” with his ears flopping with each bark. I miss him every single minute of every single day."—Forever Family

🐶 Meet Best Buddies, Camellia & Rosebud!

"Camellia is a patient, perfect pug and best friends with 2-year-old Rosebud who keeps her young. Camellia likes treats, beautiful days outside, and picking fresh tomatoes. Rosebud’s favorite toy is Camellia’s tail. She also likes zoomies, carrying her toy brick, and rolling the halls with toilet paper."—Forever Family

🐶 Meet Harlee, a Truly Renaissance Pug!

"Harlee the Pug is living proof that old dogs rule. From boating and paddleboarding to beach days, winery and brewery adventures, and road trips from St. Augustine to Jonas Ridge, he’s always ready for the next journey. Harlee reminds everyone that senior dogs have endless love and adventure left to give, which is why we’ll always choose to rescue a senior pug."—Forever Family

If you were at yesterday's Pug meetup in Charlotte,NC, no doubt your Pug(s) are still sleeping. 🤣😴. Sooo many Pug and pug mixes and their care assistants (family) came out to Birdsong Brewing Co for a giant Pug play date. It was great to see so many prior MAPR fosters and their families! A huge thank you to Jennifer McKinzie for organizing such a great event in conjunction with , as well as the volunteers who came out to help. Can’t wait for the next meetup!

Biscuits came in with Gravy (not bonded) and had been wandering the streets until they were picked up by animal control and taken to the shelter. She was found malnourished, terrible skin issues, overgrown nails and overall neglect. All are being addressed by her foster Mom. Biscuits was sprung from the shelter, given a medicated bath and promptly made herself at home by jumping into her foster Mom’s bed and slept like she hadn’t slept in years. She finds comfort in all of the dog beds she can find (and foster Mom’s too), is doing well with her foster and resident siblings, as long as they steer clear of her very irritated backside and is given multiple medicated baths per week to clear up her skin. We will continue to update her progress and personality as she gains weight and gets healthy. For information on this sweet girl, go to our website at www.midatlanticpugrescue.org Welcome to the MAPR family, Biscuits, we will treat you like the gold that you are. 💛👑🐾

If you are in or near Charlotte, NC today, grab your Pug(s) and head over to Birdsong Brewing Company between 2-5 pm for a Pug meetup! Spend a few hours enjoying the shenanigans of a Pug play date, supporting MAPR and take home a guaranteed tired Pug at the end! Can’t wait to see you! All well behaved furry friends, whether they have a pronounced nose or not, are welcome!!

🐶 Meet Josie, the Happy Howler!

Josie was adopted through MAPR to her forever home in April 2026. She shows her love to her dog parents with cuddles on the couch, twirls when food is imminent, and happy howls when they return home. Josie's favorite food is her mid-afternoon greenie, and her favorite hobbies are riding in the car and running around on the beach.
