Microsoft is patching a major Windows 10 flaw discovered by the NSA. Microsoft has issued patches for Windows 10 and both Windows Server 2016 and 2019. Reliant Networks can make sure your business is regularly patched and protected from vulnerabilities.

In the past, the NSA might have kept the security hole to itself, using it to spy on adversaries. The best examples of that are WannaCry and EternalBlue, Windows 10 vulnerabilities discovered and exploited by the NSA for years. The agency developed hacking tools to exploit those holes, but some of them were uncovered and released by a suspected Russian hacking group called Shadow Brokers. EternalBlue is still used to this day on unpatched systems for ransomware, theft and other types of attacks.

As Ransomware Grows, the Need for Phishing Threat Prevention Becomes Paramount. When we think of ransomware, we don’t automatically think of phishing attacks, but we should! The most common way ransomware and malware infect a network is, in fact, from phishing. Being able to block employee web traffic to phishing sites (via malicious links and other vectors) and stop a ransomware attack at the start of the kill chain, is paramount. Microsoft is warning Windows 10 users to update their operating system immediately because of two "critical" vulnerabilities.

The company said the vulnerabilities are potentially "wormable" meaning affected computers could spread viruses and malware without any action on the user's part. There are "potentially hundreds of millions of vulnerable computers," Simon Pope, Microsoft's director of Incident Response, wrote in a blog post Tuesday. It is important that affected systems are patched as quickly as possible.
