Sent Church

The safest place to be is where the King is. 👑

In 1 Samuel 22, the distressed, the indebted, and the deeply wounded fled to David for refuge. He did not turn them away. He received them, sheltered them, and became their protector.

This points us to our greater King, Jesus Christ.

Jesus welcomes every weary sinner who flees to Him. He does not reject the broken or helpless. Through His death and resurrection, He bore the judgment we deserved and secured His people forever. ✝️

If Christ is your refuge, stay with Him. When you do not know what God is doing, trust His promises, wait on His timing, and rest in the protection of your King.

You are safe with King Jesus. No enemy can sn**ch you out of his hand. No failure can break his covenant love.

📖 “I cry to you, O Lord; I say, ‘You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.’” Psalm 142:5 ESV

For reflection:

1. Where are you tempted to seek refuge apart from Christ?
2. Are you trusting God while you wait for His timing?
3. How can you help make the church a welcoming place for the broken and sin-weary?

Fear can make us panic, hide, and try to control what only God can hold. 🙏

David knew that struggle. In 1 Samuel 21, he was afraid, exhausted, and acting out of weakness. Yet God did not abandon him. He provided for David, reminded him of His past faithfulness, and preserved him even when his faith was faltering.

That is our hope too. 💙

Our confidence is not in the strength of our faith, but in the faithfulness of God. When fear drives us toward desperation, Christ calls us to take refuge in Him. He is our true Priest and King, the Bread of Life who meets weary sinners with mercy and grace. 🍞👑

📖 “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Psalm 56:3 ESV

👉Where is fear tempting you to take control?
👉How has God shown His faithfulness to you before?
👉What would it look like to take refuge in Christ today?

Our King reigns. Our Priest intercedes for us. The Lord is good. 🙌

As we prepare for another week, we need the steady grace of gathering with God’s people, seeking Him in prayer, and sitting under His Word. 🙌

Our security does not rest in how tightly we hold on to God. It rests in the covenant faithfulness of the God who holds on to us. 💙

In 1 Samuel 20, Jonathan’s loyalty to David points us to a far greater love. Jesus did not merely risk His life for His friends. He laid down His life for sinners and brought us into an everlasting covenant of peace. ✝️

If you are in Christ, your security does not depend on your strength or performance. It depends entirely on the promise of Jesus. He will keep you and bring you safely into His eternal kingdom.

📖 “And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.” John 6:39 ESV

Because God has shown us steadfast love, we are called to reflect that love through faithful, costly commitment to one another.

👉Who is God calling you to love faithfully?
👉How can you help build a church marked by steadfast love?

May God form us into a covenant-keeping people who display the love of Christ. 🙏

Tomorrow, we gather to be reminded that our hope rests in what Jesus has done, not in how well we performed this week.

His grace is enough for the weary, His Word is steady for the uncertain, and His promises remain true.
