What Cannabis Strain Is Most Effective For ADD/ADHD? | Green Flower New interest in the medicinal properties of the cannabis plant have inspired researchers to put the plant to the test in ADD/ADHD.

For the month of August we will be focusing on the Cannabis and those diagnosed with ADHD.

At Medicus Cannabus, we're committed to keeping you informed about this ever evolving field, offering a range of evidence-based options tailored to your unique needs.

Dr. Hill would love the opportunity to sit down with you and discuss your heath and current diagnosis of ADHD!

Please see the article below for more information on how cannabis has been shown to effectively treat ADHD.

Exploring Cannabis as a Potential Aid for ADHD Management

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects both children and adults, impacting focus, impulsivity, and overall cognitive function.
As the medical field continually seeks effective treatments, researchers are turning their attention to the potential benefits of cannabis. While the use of cannabis for ADHD management is still an emerging field, some studies have shown promising results. Certain cannabinoids, such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), found in cannabis, interact with the endocannabinoid system in the brain, which plays a role in regulating various physiological processes, including attention and mood. Preliminary research suggests that these compounds might help mitigate some ADHD symptoms by enhancing focus, reducing impulsivity, and promoting a sense of calm.

Those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Hill know that he is very much an advocate for our community and it's youth. Each year he chooses a few programs to donate his time to or provides a donation to their program. On July 27th Dr. Hill had the pleasure of meeting Philip Mobley who is the NSFRC Manager with Partnership for Strong Families. During this time Dr. Hill presented Mr. Mobley with a donation to help with the "Back to School Bash." With all those who donated they were able to provide back packs and school supplies to many of our youth! We are super proud of our community and it's efforts in supporting our youth. Dr. Hill and Medicus Cannabus will continue to advocate for our community and its youth both here in Lake City and in Port St. Lucie.

Here is something to ponder over. If anyone of you can guess Dr. Hills correct age and you are one of our patients or wanting to be a patient of ours there's going to be a little bit of a surprise for you. There will be two winners, one with the closest and one who actually guesses his correct age. Let's get the ball rolling and start guessing!

Help us wish Dr. Hill a Happy Birthday! Doc was unable to be here for his birthday so we celebrated it here in Lake City a few days late. We would also like to say thank you to two of our local dispensary representatives Oran Allen with Curaleaf and Nick Maginsky from MUV who helped make his birthday extra special!

Did You Know?

The WHO predicts a 45% increase in cancer cases by 2030, especially in countries with high life expectancy. Therefore, it is safe to say that focusing on prevention and improved treatment for a better quality of life is becoming a grave concern for many. Subsequently, planning and the cost of said treatments without the use of narcotics worry the average individual regardless of where they are geographically located. Without the ability to pay for the cost of cancer treatment, many are reverting back to mother nature. This is where cannabis and endocannabinoid wellness can help. With so much research being done daily, the potential for relieving the symptoms of cancer is promising. After reading several articles posted on cancer and the endocannabinoid system, the potential impact on pain relief, the managing of cancer symptoms, not to mention the cell growth itself, proved to be astoundingly encouraging. If you are interested in either of the articles, please cut and paste the links below into your search bar.

Working together towards a common goal can make a difference in the fight against cancer, as well as many age-related conditions. Cannabis research awareness needs to be widespread around the globe! Let's work together to make this happen!

What is Juneteenth? Learn the history behind the federal holiday's origin and name 06/19/2023

We here at Medicus Cannabus would like to pay tribute to an era that ended slavery and gave freedom to African Americans here in the United States. June 19th is recognized to many as "Juneteenth." It is the oldest nationally as well as internationally commemoration of African American freedom that puts emphasis on education as well as achievements. It is a day, a week, and in some areas, a month marked with celebrations, guest speakers, picnics and family gatherings.
Juneteenth is a time for reflection and rejoicing. It is a time for assessment, self-improvement and for planning the future. Its growing popularity signifies a level of maturity and dignity in America long over due. In cities across the country, people of all races, nationalities and religions are joining hands to truthfully acknowledge a period in our history that shaped and continues to influence our society today. Sensitized to the conditions and experiences of others, only then can we make significant and lasting improvements in our society.

What an amazing program we have started. As you all know, Dr. Hill is an Army veteran and Medicus Cannabus is a veteran owned and operated business. We have decided to provide a little something extra to our veterans to show our appreciation. Once a month, we will choose a veteran to recognize them for their service, present them with a framed certificate, and photograph the moment. See the picture below where Dr. Hill is presenting our veteran of the month for May, Debi Blackwood. The smile on her face tells it all! Thank you for your service Sergeant Blackwood.

Mechoulam’s studies in cannabis started with police, and a smelly bus trip 03/13/2023

Saturday was a very sad day for the cannabis community. Raphael Mechoulam who was well known and often referred to as the “Father of Cannabis Research,” has died in Israel at the age 92. Mechoulam was a professor at the Hebrew University School of Pharmacy and began his cannabinoid experiments in the 1960s in Israel.

We here at Medicus Cannabis would like to extend our sincerest sympathies to his family. Without him, his perseverance, and dedication to his craft, cannabis and its properties would most likely not be as far advanced as it is today.

Billy Caldwell's 'miracle changes' as medicinal cannabis stops seizure damage 03/05/2023

Who knew! Seizures and medicinal cannabis. Is there a positive outcome when one with seizures uses cannabis? Does cannabis cure seizures? There are so many studies and research going on with this topic that makes us wonder, does cannabis really help heal the body? Read below the article we found on cannabis and seizures. It just may get your mind asking questions that you weren't ready to hear the answers to before. With today's stigma towards the word ma*****na and it's long term societal view of recreational use to get high is now getting a closer look into it's genetic makeup and it's potential healing properties. This is huge, especially when it comes to helping one to function daily with a natural plant base and not a man made narcotic.

February is National Black History Month and Medicus Cannabus would like to recognize Maggie Lena Walker for her achievements. Mrs. Walker was a chief advocate for African American women’s rights, the president of her local NAACP chapter, as well as being on the national board of many organizations and their efforts. Even more importantly, Mrs. Walker founded the St. Luke Penny Savings Bank in Richmond, VA in 1903 and served as the chairman of the Board of Directors when the bank merged with two other banks to become the Consolidated Bank and Trust Company. During her tenure she served as the banks first president and was recognized for being the first woman to charter a bank in the United States. The bank still thrives today as the oldest continually African American-operated bank in the United States. Its headquarters is currently located directly across from its original location at the corner of first and Marshall streets.
This amazing woman of her times not only started a bank, but she created a media company as well. To promote closer communication between order and the public, in 1902, Mrs. Walker established the St. Luke Herald. She was often heard during her speeches by saying,” Let us put our money together; let us use our money; let us put our money out at usury among ourselves and reap the benefits ourselves.” Powerful words for a remarkably intelligent, accomplished, clever, and hardworking woman of her times. We should all be so proud of the accomplishments of Maggie Lena Walker, as it has led to many others following in her footsteps achieving their own triumphs in their fields of prowess and practice.
For example, here’s another very intelligent, industrious, and skilled woman of color. Meet Kiko Davis. Just a mere one hundred and thirteen years later Kiko Davis is the majority owner and stockholder of Detroit-based First Independence Bank, one of the top 10 largest Black-owned banks in the United States. Ultimately, making her the only black woman in the country who owns a bank.
Both these women chose business, banking and helping their communities to thrive as their profession. They deserve recognition this day, this month, and every day for that matter. We are in awe of their accomplishments.
These two women are proof that women can make it out there in this hard and ever-changing world regardless of color. Check out the links below if you are interested in their full story.

About Dr. James O. Hill II

James O. Hill II, DO, of Medicus Cannabus in Port St Lucie, Florida, is a specialist in osteopathic medicine, board-certified emergency physician, and an expert in the benefits of medical cannabis. With a background in the military and in addiction treatment, Dr. Hill brings invaluable experience, specialized training, and a compassionate attitude to every patient he treats.

After graduating from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Dr. Hill completed his specialty training at the Jackson Memorial Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital, both in Miami. During his time in the United States Army, Dr. Hill served as an ER physician in the 86th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad. His other positions during his time in uniform included flight surgeon, commanding officer of Emergency Medical Services, and director of the Emergency Department of the 121st Combat Hospital in Seoul, South Korea.

Since leaving the military, Dr. Hill has practiced medicine in a variety of capacities, as an ER physician, a specialist in hyperbaric wound care, and a director of medicine. But his most impactful experience since leaving the Army has been his time as the founder and director of the North Star Treatment Center for Addiction. As an addiction specialist, Dr. Hill has seen firsthand the danger that prescription painkillers like opioids and benzodiazepines can have on patients, and this has led him to turn to alternatives to these traditional options.

Dr. Hill provides the highest quality care available with military precision and the compassion of an experienced doctor to the people of Port Saint Lucie and Lake City, Florida.
