We provide a well-balanced instructional program that will enable all children to reach their highest level of academic success while promoting Islamic values. A full-time Islamic elementary school located in Old Bridge, NJ, serving children from preschool through sixth grade. ICOB Academy's motto is "building a community, one child at a time" as we seek to develop in each student a positive identity as a Muslim who is prepared intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically to succeed and lead in tomorrow's world. It is our goal to integrate students' academic skills with Islamic principles, through knowledge of Qur'an and Sunnah, to make positive contributions to the global community. ICOB Academy is proud to provide a nurturing environment where children flourish through a balanced education rooted in Islamic values. Our early childhood program is thoughtfully designed to integrate strong academics with Islamic education, moral guidance, and character development. Our Qur'an, Arabic, and Islamic Studies classes are seamlessly interwoven with an innovative, skill-based curriculum aligned with academic standards and developmental milestones, serving students from preschool through elementary. Nusrat Sohail - Principal: With over 25 years of experience as an educator, mentor, and school leader, Sr. Nusrat has served in key roles at multiple Islamic schools. She has also contributed to heritage language preservation through programs at NYU, Kean University, and the nationally recognized STARTALK Hindi-Urdu Language Camp. Holding Master's degrees in Education and South Asian History, a postgraduate fellowship in Educational Leadership, and doctoral credentials from Columbia University, Sr. Nusrat is dedicated to nurturing students who are intellectually capable, spiritually grounded, and morally upright. Shahina Khan - Early Childhood Director: With over 19 years of experience in early childhood and Montessori education, Sr. Shahina brings a wealth of knowledge in curriculum development, staff training, and parent engagement. Shahina is Montessori trained through the American Montessori Society and has successfully directed Children First Montessori Schools for more than 17 years. She is deeply committed to creating nurturing, stimulating learning environments where children can learn developmentally appropriate skills to function, thrive and develop independence.

🚒 Preventive Safety: Learning Today to Stay Safe Tomorrow
Fire Prevention Week was commemorated at ICOB Academy with enthusiasm, excitement, and lots of little smiles! ❤️
We were delighted to welcome the old bridge fire Department who gave our students a special presentation using a real fire truck and introduced them to some of the important tools firefighters use during emergencies.
Our students also received their very own firefighter hats and, of course, they absolutely loved wearing them! 👩🚒👨🚒🧯
Beyond the fun, this visit was a meaningful reminder that fire safety is a big lesson for young learners. Teaching children how to recognize danger, stay calm, and respect the work of our community heroes helps build awareness and confidence from an early age.
A heartfelt Jazakum Allahu Khairan to the Old Bridge Township Fire Department for spending time with our students and helping make safety education memorable. 🚒❤️

🌱 Are We Giving Our Young Children Too Much Screen Time?
Parenting today comes with new challenges. With busy schedules, safety concerns, and the convenience of technology, it can be tempting to think:
“My child is still young. Why send them to school? They can stay home and learn.”
But what does a young child really need?
Young learners need conversation, movement, play, friends, routines, hands-on experiences, and caring adults who guide their curiosity. A screen can entertain a child, but it cannot replace the social, emotional, and developmental experiences that happen when children learn together.
At ICOB Academy, we believe the early years are not simply a time to keep children occupied until “real school” begins. These are the years when the foundation for learning, confidence, communication, independence, and character is built.
