🚨 10 MIGRANTS LAND AT KEY WEST STATE PARK 🚨

A group of 10 migrants was detained Thursday morning after landing at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park in Key West.

Key West Police and FWC responded around 9 a.m., with the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection also responding.

Authorities seized the vessel, and CBP took custody of the 10 migrants.

🚨 FLORIDA KEYS CO***NE RING ENDS IN FEDERAL PRISON 🚨

Three Marathon men have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a years-long co***ne trafficking operation across the Florida Keys.

Federal prosecutors say John Robert Strama Jr. received 10 years, Pedro Luis Lugo Jr. received 85 months, and Elvis Lazaro Ruiz received 65 months behind bars.

Authorities say the organization operated from at least 2020 through 2023, with co***ne allegedly recovered from waterproof packages floating at sea and distributed throughout the Keys.

The investigation resulted in 27 defendants being charged, with 25 sentenced as of August 11.

🚨 FORMER SCHOOL BUSINESS MANAGER SENTENCED 🚨

A 60-year-old woman accused of stealing from a Key West private school has been sentenced to 270 days in jail and ordered to pay more than $11,490 in restitution.

Authorities say Lori A. Kerbel abused her former position as business manager and bookkeeper to make unauthorized personal purchases using school funds and credit cards, including jewelry, electronics, clothing and home furnishings.

Kerbel pleaded no contest and was also sentenced to 5 years of probation and 50 hours of community service.
