KEYS OFFICES TO CLOSE IN OBSERVANCE OF COLUMBUS/INDIGENOUS PEOPLE'S DAY

In observance of Columbus/Indigenous People's Day, Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) offices will be closed on Monday, October 12.

KEYS’ offices will re-open for regular business on Tuesday, October 13, at 8:00A.

KEYS EMPLOYEES KICK OFF PUBLIC POWER WEEK AT COMMUNITY KITCHEN

Keys Energy Services (KEYS) employees marked the start of Public Power Week by volunteering at the Star of the Sea (SOS) Foundation’s Callahan Community Kitchen on United Street in Key West. As part of KEYS’ Days of Giving program, employees are assisting with meal prep for childcare and senior sites across Monroe County this week.

“Our Days of Giving program allows KEYS employees to directly support meaningful causes in our community,” said Lynne Tejeda, General Manager & CEO of KEYS. “Partnering with the SOS Foundation to feed our neighbors was an impactful way to give back and kick off Public Power Week.”

KEYS’ Days of Giving program was launched in 2023 and connects employees with nonprofit organizations throughout the Lower Florida Keys to provide hands-on support for community projects and events.

Public Power Week kicked off yesterday! KEYS is celebrating alongside approximately 2,000 other community-powered, not-for-profit electric utilities providing reliable electricity to 55 million Americans across 49 states and five U.S. territories.

Due to the potential for additional heavy rainfall and flooding this afternoon, Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) offices will close at 3:00P today, Friday, October 2.

KEYS’ offices will re-open for regular business on Monday, October 5, at 8:00A.

KEYS’ crews repaired powerlines this week near Garrison Bight marina after a sailboat downed them on Friday, September 19. Crews restrung approximately 275 feet of line over the course of three days.

A Distribution Line outage is currently affecting approximately 1,800 KEYS’ customers in the Old Town section of Key West. The outage was triggered at 1:19P. KEYS’ crews are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Follow this post for additional updates.

KEYS REBATE PROGRAM RETURNS WITH SAVINGS

Keys Energy Services (KEYS) rebate program returns to help customers save energy and money when purchasing qualifying energy-efficient products.

The program consists of 14 rebates, including a $350 rebate for an electric vehicle (EV) charger, with an additional $50 rebate if the charger is Energy Star Certified.

Additional rebates include: Hot Water Heater Timer ($25); Programmable Thermostat ($25); Ceiling Fan ($25); White Roof Coating ($25); Dehumidifier ($50); Dishwasher ($55); Room Air Conditioner ($75); Refrigerator ($75); Clothes Washer ($100); Duct Leak Repair or Replacement ($150); Ductless Air Conditioner ($175); Central Air Conditioner ($250); and Solar Hot Water Heater ($450).

Customers can visit KeysEnergy.com to learn more about the program and download a rebate application. The terms of the rebate program allow customers to receive more than one rebate within a designated timeframe.

Rebates are awarded to eligible customers on a first-come, first-served basis and will be available until funding is exhausted. Since 2008, KEYS has provided more than $1.4 million in rebates to customers.

KEYS recently repaired 56 foundations across six electrical substations to help maintain reliable power.

Electrical substations regulate the voltage of electricity so it can travel safely to homes and businesses. Lattice structures are the tall steel structures within substations that hold high voltage equipment and play a key role in power reliability.

Repair work revolved around the lattice structures and included enhancing concrete bases, adding steel supports, and applying protective coatings to mitigate rust.

The total cost of the project was $433,725.78.
