1986. Great idea. Let's make this happen. was a spring breaker in key West. Great idea from a great commissioner who will be added to the pedestal garden in Mallory square.

April 4, 1982 – Suwa, a male dolphin owned by Little Torch Key resident Betty Brothers and kept on her property, attacked a man after he entered the private lagoon to swim with the creature. Suwa rammed the man six times, causing severe liver lacerations and the rupture of a “major” vein in his stomach.

1934 – Sam E. Harris was named Key West Postmaster.

1938 – Gene Tunney, heavyweight boxing champion, visited the city from his winter home at Hobe Sound.

1956 – There was low water pressure throughout the Florida Keys as South Florida went through its annual dry period. Some were calling for a freshwater reservoir to be built to supply the islands, but the idea was nixed by the Aqueduct Commission as there was nowhere to build one of adequate size.

1961 – The cable schooner Western Union arrived safely in port at Key West after having been stopped in international water by two armed Cuban gunboats.

1964 – The Flagler Avenue Branch Post Office in Key West was dedicated. Congressman Dante B. Fascell was the main speaker.

1983 – Movie star Gloria Swanson died at the age of 84 in New York City. As an 11-year-old Army dependent, Swanson made her first appearance on the stage at the Odd Fellows Hall in Key West, where she sang “As the World Rolls On.”

1986 – Monroe County Mayor Wilhelmina Harvey put forward a proposal to the Tourist Development Council that a “Truman Days” festival be organized to celebrate President Harry Truman and his ties to the Keys. The celebration would be modeled on the popular Hemingway Days event.

Friday the 13th... Whiskey Rick taking a whiskey tour for rum

So great to learn and build on my knowledge to share with others. Loving life, having fun, and enjoying being able to share history and lore with friends, family, and guests who become friends.

Amazing time trying a few spirits and sharing stories. Thank you, Royce, for joining us and helping to explain what the group was enjoying and yes think Neeley will have a few visitors when those in this group head north on I-75 to stop and visit your place. Appreciate all who donated to the Cindy for Queen campaign to enable this private experience.

So amazing... had a private tour that was enjoying reading David's books and he posted he was volunteering at the The Alex Vega Key West Firehouse Museum so we swung by. Not only did he sign a book, but he led them around the museum with a few unique stories and huge bonus was there with one of her famous pies for David to try and yes the guests got a slice too of that authentic treat. Thank you for enabling this great timing

Not a tour, but I did share some stories and enjoyed another day in paradise. So yes I can share the history and lore of this area by multiple means of transportation. Happy to tailor a tour to you and yours. Had a fun corprate group last week and a birthday tour coming up.
