I don't do weddings. They just aren't my thing and there are better wedding photographers out there. It was a kids dream job.
What started as something I was always intrigued with, I began my journey with a Pentax IQZOOM in 5th grade. I mowed a lot of lawns that summer to buy the “top of the line” point and shoot camera (I was 11 and didn’t know much). In high school I joined the yearbook and upgraded to my first SLR camera (shown in the attached photo), a Nikon N6006. This camera, which I still own led me through high s
chool and into college where I upgraded to the N90. There were days I spent 10-14 hours in the darkroom, or 3-4 hours in the studio doing fun shoots and learning. After graduating with degree in commercial photography and another degree in desktop publishing, I started a career that spanned 14 years. I was lucky to find a small local publishing company by the name of Tomart Publications to pursue my professional dreams. I photographed toys all day, was sent on assignment to the two major industry events - the New York Toy Fair and San Diego Comic-Con, and even got to see items that were only prototypes and visit with companies and artists. I worked on occasion with another local commercial photographer on massive sets to photograph book covers. We played with fire, dry ice, and a flurry of other special effects. After the business suffered many financial losses, and I had a family to support, I changed jobs to pay the bills. Photography is still my passion and one of my favorite things to do. Which is why I started this page and continue to share my hobby with those that I can.
