I meet people who make $50,000 a year who save money. I meet people who make $150,000 a year who couldn’t save money if they had to. It hasn’t got as much to do with your income as it does with you learning to control the person in your mirror. People who make $50,000 a year don’t go $10,000 in debt in one purchase. They don’t use their credit card and buy one thing for $10,000. No, it’s 1,000 things for $10. And then you look up and say, “Oh my gosh, what have we done?” I’m on your team. I’ve done it too. But I’m just telling you: A lot of the people who call into my show with these problems, a lot of the stuff is unbelievably preventable. You’re not in Congress. You can’t just print money in your basement. You have to live on less than you make, you have to have a plan (a budget), and you have to be intentional. 08/21/2024

If you don’t tell your money where to go, you’re going to wonder where it went. Here’s how to create a simple zero-based budget each month 👇 1️⃣ Write down your total income. 2️⃣ List your expenses (including any money you’ll save). 3️⃣ Subtract expenses from income to equal zero. This is called a zero-based budget, and it helps you give every dollar you made that month a clear purpose. 4️⃣ Track your spending to make sure you stick to your plan. When you’ve got a plan, you’re more likely to not overspend (or be surprised next time you check your bank account). 05/08/2024
