Love a good "hand holding" pic, and bonus points if it's snacks.

A blue color story. From an island in Sicily, to matchbooks in Paris, blue flowers in my back yard and velvets in Cleveland.

Did you know we offer wrapping paper and other customizable options for making your Hazelmade purchase a gift?

We knew our old online storefront was clunky for adding gift wrap, notes or details to your gifts. We recently redesigned our website, and one feature we knew we had to have was a simplified gifting function.

A gift is a story, and every good story deserves a good cover. We have always wanted the gifts you give to your loved ones to be a complete experience, from beginning to end.

Last April, I met a brand strategist at a conference. She was persistent, but also kind, and what struck me most about her was that she truly listened. We booked an initial meeting, signed the contract and embarked on a 3-month deep dive into what felt like a pretty gray area at the time: brand strategy.

We worked through who Hazelmade is as a brand and business as well as how we show up for our customers.

At the very end, Robyn said to go back to one of the first pieces I published. She said to look for some of the words we focused our new brand strategy around. And sure enough, in my first catalog from 2014, I found those words.

I didn't embark on this process to please the algorithm or optimize my business. I wanted to refocus, sift through the last 12 years of intention, decisions, influence and uncertainty, to find the very core I started with.

This is a small look at some of the elements we created. They are lifted straight from our new website (link in bio), which we hope feels like an invitation to pull up a seat and join us.

We recently started a project to refresh our brand's visual identity. The shift is subtle: softer versions of our original colors and more elevated typography. We've refined the logo and other brand visuals and are letting the photography draw on a slower pace. And, if you order through our online shop, you are in for a surprise!

May was closing a long chapter for me personally. Last November we (somewhat unexpectedly) purchased a home which became 6 months of restoration, renovations and deep cleaning. In May, we finally made the move, listed our old home and started to settle in.

We unpacked long forgot treasures and stocked up on fresh apricots. A neighbor brought us homemade bread and the little tag on the package - a Hazelmade Mini Note! We had our favorite local baked goods at the studio as we prepared for our 12th anniversary party for Hazelmade. That event brought a full space and sheet cake - two of my favorite things! We closed out the month packing up new designs for our first market of the summer season.

For the Gardener. The seeds and the soil. You welcome the slow moments and the roots that grow with time.

It's the time of year when baskets begin to fill with homegrown harvests. Blooms are emerging from long green stalks. The roots have been digging deep. Now, the hard work of the rain, the sun, and the nurturing hands is about to pay off.

We're taking our pop-up shelves to the Kent Art & Wine Festival in Downtown Kent, this Saturday, June 6. Find us among many other local artists, businesses, and makers. Plus, live music, food, and local wine.

Thanks for organizing this event!

As our birthday month comes to a close, here's one final look back at 12 years of Hazelmade: This time, catalog covers.

I design these catalogs for our wholesale buyers each year. For a long time, we printed physical catalogs to hand out at trade shows. Now, our catalogs are digital only, but it's still important to me to mirror the feeling of opening a physical collection of photographs that inspire the reader to slow down and pause. I want the texture and feel of our objects to come to life, even in a digital space.

These covers have changed a lot overtime, but I love the warm and welcoming feel of our 2026 catalog. Like so much we've done this year, it feels both fresh and familiar.

Thank you joining me on this behind the scenes deep dive into 12 years of Hazelmade. I'm grateful for everyone who celebrated with us this month, and everyone who has supported me and my business throughout this journey. 🤍
