NE Ohio Indoor R/C Flying
The Ohio Indoor RC Flyers club hosts indoor flying in NE Ohio at various venues. Pilots must have current AMA membership. "Like" to receive updates!
The NEF was an annual flying festival held indoors at the Univ. of Akron Stile Athletics Field House in late March. For radio-controlled aircraft with electric motors. Currently this event is suspended. We have indoor flying dates during the winter months. Our website is: ohioelectricfly.com
Formerly the "Holiday Electric Fly" in Geneva held since 2010, it was renamed and moved to Akron in 2014
Great event last night - we hope everyone enjoyed the fun. Please post your pictures and videos in the comments, we'd love to see them!! Here's a walk down the flightline, capturing some of what was going on. (unedited)

Hey, is everyone ready for the big flying meet tomorrow? 7 HOURS from 2pm until 9pm at the Kent State Field House. Here are a few reminders: same $20 admission for pilots, no charge for spectators. Youth pilots free with paid adult pilot (youth pilots must be supervised). Please arrive early to unpack and set up. Bring your own portable tables and chairs. Charging is VERY limited - if you want to charge batteries bring safe containers and a power supply. Don't bring food and drink into the facility. DON'T fly into the nets! FLYING AREAS: the main field is for open flying, racetrack pattern, everyone flies in the same direction. End Zones and corners are for 3D, small helis, small drones, very small planes, RC cars. WE WILL HAVE A PILOTS MEETING AT 2pm. The best kind of plane for indoor flying is small, cheap, and slow. AVOID midairs! If you have a fast plane its YOUR responsibility to avoid hitting other airplanes. Please be considerate of others, its going to be busy! We will have several events to have some breaks during the day, and TWO raffle drawings! The big prize is a $600 twin 80mm A10 EDF Jet with receiver and gyro, bind and fly! SEE PREVIOUS POSTS FOR MORE INFORMATION! thank you for your support!

To help celebrate the last indoor event of the season we've brought back your favorite flight guard from last year! He will be keeping track of the flight and game schedule you see below. Here are a few things to remember for the extended event . . .
- Charge ALL of your batteries. If you want to charge on site please bring portable power banks (like Ecoflow, Jackery, etc.) if you have them because power outlets are at a premium.
- It will be a long day of great flying but remember there will be no food services at the event . . . if you do bring food all we ask is that you keep it contained to your area and please clean up after yourself. Don't walk around with food or drinks in your hand and especially on the turf so we don't have accidental spillage.
- Like last year we have created a flight schedule so everyone gets a chance to enjoy all of their airplanes. Please be considerate of each other, communicate all take-offs and landings, and fly in the pattern. Accidents will happen but we'd like to keep them to a minimum.
- This year we are adding a couple games to the mix. First is Limbo, fly under the ever-lowering streamer until one pilot is left. Second is the Balloon Prize Pop, two tripods with balloons on top will be placed on the field. "Prizes (TBD)" to those who pop them first. Also, the bowling pins will be available for anyone to try it out (no officially scored game). We'll have the final details for all the games on Saturday.
- TWO RAFFLES!! We will be splitting up the raffles into two for those that can't stay until the end. We'll have all the details for you on Saturday.
- You may notice there is no FULL CONTACT COMBAT on the schedule this year. We've decided that we'd rather not fill the arena up with burning turf smoke from busted batteries (we've been very lucky with them in the past). We will keep the chaos limited to two Wingola (and other wings) Tornados of Doom.
