🥵☀️ For your pet's safety, our dog park will be closed today! Our standard summer policy will be to keep the park closed on days forecasted to reach 85° or hotter. These temps are too hot for most pets safety! Check the weather before you head out. We have plenty of other boredom-busting activities and cooling treats to keep your pups busy - stop in for a suggestion!

On hot days, limit your pet's activity to early morning or late evenings, avoid pavement, stone, sand, and even wood that can burn paws (unless your pet is wearing booties- choose grassy areas), and provide plenty of cool water and shade. Do not leave your pet in the car! Get your pet a lifevest and use caution visiting the lake, river, or pool.

Signs of heat stroke include excessive and prolonged panting or drooling, thick or sticky drool, bright red tongue and gums, elevated heart rate, vomiting or diarrhea, and weakness or lethargy. Should you notice these signs, contact a vet right away. Move your pet to a cool area, and use cool (NOT cold or ice) water on their head, armpits, belly, and feet.

🥵☀️ It's getting HOT HOT HOT! With temps rising this weekend, we want to make sure our furry friends stay safe! Know what to look for, and make sure to save our Vet Hospital phone number (253-277-7000) in case of emergency.

❄️We sell cooling products to keep your pet comfortable, including pads, vests, and bowls for water. We can also suggest a variety of hot day activities to keep your pet occupied safely, and frozen treat ideas to cool them off.
🥵 Pets more at risk include overweight, short-nosed, and old or very young pets, as well as dogs with thick, unkempt coats (keep up on deshedding to get extra undercoat out, allowing airflow).
🌡️ NEVER LEAVE YOUR PET IN THE CAR! Cracking the windows and parking in the shade is not enough. Temperatures rise drastically in just 10 minutes. On a 90° day, it can reach 125° inside.
