It's October 1st, and it's Careers in Construction Month! Every building around you started as a drawing and ended up as something people live, work, and gather in. In between, it took hundreds of people … from carpenters, electricians, operators, project managers, and safety leads.
Construction isn't just a job. It's a career where you can point to something and say, "I helped build that." If you're thinking about a future in the trades or project management, now's a great time to explore it. What's the project you're proudest of working on? 👇

Throwback to our 2026 Legacy Gala, a night we got to pause and say thank you. This event was all about honoring the people who make Capital Development what it is: our incredible workers, partners, and everyone who's been part of our story along the way. Grateful doesn't even begin to cover it. Here's to the people behind every project.

Every project starts the same way:

An empty lot and a vision.
What comes next... the permits, the planning, the countless decisions most people never see, is where the real work happens. It's not perfect but it's what turns a vision into a place people actually live, work, and gather in.

At Capital Development, we're proud of the process, not just the finished product.

What's a project (big or small) you've watched come together from nothing? Share below.

Here are 5 construction facts you probably didn't know.

1. A typical house has 3,000+ individual parts ... sometimes 10,000+ once you count wiring, ductwork, and fasteners. It's basically the world's biggest puzzle.

2. The average home uses 20,000 to 30,000 nails.

3. A single-family home can have a mile or more of electrical wiring hidden inside its walls.

4. Drywall was invented as a "temporary" wartime substitute for plaster. A century later, it's in almost every home you've ever lived in.

5. Concrete doesn't dry, it cures. It's a chemical reaction, not evaporation, which is why keeping it damp actually makes it stronger.

Next time you walk into a finished home, remember... there's a small universe of engineering behind those walls!
