Turks teaser pt.2. Part one was all color part 2 is all black and white. This crowd was such a colorful bunch it even shows in black and white. Such a fantastic range of ages and emotions. Congrats Mel and Connor!

Turks teaser time part 1! and myself had a great time traveling to the Turks and Caicos Islands for the amazing wedding celebration of Melanie and Connor. Everyone in attendance made us feel like family. What a group and what a wedding. I think my shoes shrunk a size after getting soaked at the end of the night but totally worth it for these two amazing people. Stay tuned for part 2. :)

Carley and James are up next for a teaser. This wedding had a lot of moving parts including 5 different locations helped out by a very impressive bus driver, and the couples good friend holding onto my belt so I would not fall out of his convertible Mustang while trying to get a photo at speed. Team work makes the dream work. In the end Quintessential Events pulled off another stellar event as usual. Here are a few of my favorites from the day. Congrats you two!

Whoa. It's been a minute since we posted. :) Life sure gets in the way doesn't it? In addition to some amazing non profit commercial work and photography workshops we also documented a fantastic wedding designed and planned by Quintessential Events at the home of the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. This was no small feat to pull off but Sarah and her team made it happen as always. The couple, Jennifer and Tyler, and their guests braved an unseasonably cold Saturday in April with smiles making for a memorable event for sure. Congrats Jennifer and Tyler!

Another teaser! This one is from the last wedding Tyler shot for the year down in Miami, Fla. Ryan and Kellie got married at a little oasis that was very fun to play with. That combined with some very emotional moments made for a great way to finish out the year. Enjoy some of our favs. Congrats Ryan and Kellie!

Fall is always crazy for photographers and this one is no exception. Thankful for lots of work this fall. Time for another wedding teaser. This time for Nikki and Travis. This wedding was super special and just like we like them here. Small, intimate, and packed full of emotion and meaning. The bonus of it all was being able to see some Bishop Miege highschool classmates as Nikki graduated a year earlier than me. Super fun night being to able to witness such joy and love. We have a special teaser today. Special in that we have been photographing this bride since she was a kid. It started when her mom Marlo brought her and her two brothers to our studio years ago and now we got the chance to document her wedding day. Clients for life is what it is all about. What a joy it was to witness Jordan and Jack's wedding day. The day was supposed to include an outdoor reception at Mission Hills Country Club but due to rain all day plans had to be changed. However, when you have all star vendors like Studio Dan Meiners there is nothing to worry about. They, as always, pulled it off and in the end the rain made things classically dramatic helping the photo vibe.

I always say I love it when it rains on a wedding day. Just enough drama to change things up. This one was no exception. Enjoy a few of my favs from the day.

Another teaser. This time for Claire and Greg's wedding in Kansas City that included her dad's MG as a get away car, a small intimate ceremony at Visitation Church, and an epic dance party reception at the 1900 Building. These two were so great to document. Congrats Claire and Greg and thanks for having us document your story!

Chris and Alan did nothing by the book and I loved it! They love each other, their dogs, and doing things differently including their wedding. I loved documenting these two. From just hanging out at their house with their favorite dogs and human company before the ceremony to how they ditched their suits for way more comfortable matching shorts and tank tops, to the loaded french fry food truck late night snack these two celebrated exactly as they wanted. They 100% believed in our style of not your average wedding photography and the results were perfect. Congrats you two and enjoy a few of my favs from the day.

Although a bit later than we wanted Jess and Morgan's teaser is ready! We have been slammed with shoots and teaching workshops so we hope these two amazing humans can forgive us. Clients like these make this job so much easier. Jess and Morgan are as amazing as their friends and family and made us smile all day as we got to witness their wedding day. Another wedding teaser! We had the privilege of documenting Sarah and Jake's intimate wedding at an awesome venue called the Lumber Co. in Peculiar, Missouri. The Lumber Co. sits on the same corner on Main Street where it lived it's pervious life as the local hardware store. This was the perfect venue for Sarah and Jake and their kids to celebrate their new family together. Here are a few of our favorites including the last photo of the happy couple ending the night in the living room of their new house complete with moving boxes. Congrats Sarah and Jake!

Well hello there! Been a while since we posted here. We have been super busy with shoots via our commercial sister company Wirken Media as well as here. Last weekend Tyler got the chance to travel to Memphis, Tenn. for a great wedding where two amazing souls tied the knot. Jess and Colin brought the fun and the tears including some killer dance moves and am impromptu jaunt in the pouring rain. :) Check out a few of our favorites! Congrats Jess and Colin!

Special birthday Normal Day Session tease post for Sarah! Here are a few of my favs from a day spent at the lake this summer documenting what this family loves to do. I loved being able to make images of their memories. I have documented these 4 two other times and it was awesome to get images of them in a place they love so much. Enjoy!

Next up on the teaser list is Adam and Liz. Like many COVID couples these two got married officially last year by a judge as they wanted to wait to have their celebration with family and friends once it was safe to do so. Since then they have bought a house and are expecting their first child soon. Therefore there was plenty to celebrate in the first of two events I get the privilege of documenting for this fantastic couple. I got the chance to travel to Charleston, South Carolina to witness this wonderfully intimate ceremony and dinner with just their closest family members. The event took place at the historic Wentworth Mansion. I loved being there to witness such an emotional event and get the chance to play with so many amazing locations the mansion provided. Top it off with a tasty dinner and it was the perfect way to celebrate these two families coming together. Now I am extra excited about their party next June in Kansas City!

Starting off a string of recent shoot teasers with a few of Tyler's favorites from Maggie and Dan's wedding recently. These two had quite the celebration after a COVID reschedule and many other shifts in their plan. It all finally came together perfectly Hills Country Club including a late night stop to see their Golden Retriever on the way to the hotel. Love when moments like that happen.

The greatest thing about this job is the diversity. Especially when you focus on moments and people over things every wedding is different. It is what we love most about what we do. Being able to meet and study all sorts of people and figure out their story is what keeps up going in this biz even after 20 years. Jeff and Najla's wedding was full of color and culture. Najla is Lebanese and it was so wonderful to be able to witness how her and Jeff integrated aspects of her culture into their wedding. The energy in that room at the Midland theater was infectious and everyone had a blast. Najla was drenched in sweat at the end of the night. Proof that a good time was had by all. We have been super excited to show this recent wedding celebration Tyler documented in Providence, RI earlier this summer. Let's put it this way the more weird the event the better in our opinion. :) Robert and Katherine are both photographers and filmmakers so it was very important for them to have their event documented in a certain way. They knew what they wanted and we were thrilled they chose Tyler to fly out and be trusted with their memories. This was a combo wedding/pregnancy celebration as they were unable to have the wedding they wanted due to COVID last year as well as be able to celebrate their new family to be. The night was wonderful a mix. There was a surprise wedding ceremony, amazing food, guests in shorts and cowboy boots, a pool full of fully dressed adults, and a chihuahua. To top it off it took place in the backyard of Robert's childhood home. I loved it all. Here are a few of my favs. Enjoy and congrats Robert and Katherine!!

Nice to be busy again! Today we have another teaser from the recent wedding of Gabrielle and Patrick at Pennway Place at Studio Dan Meiners over the 4th of July weekend. We loved this party as it was more a party than wedding which is exactly what the couple wanted. As many of you already know I am an ex photojournalist turned wedding photographer so my approach is 90% documentary and in the moment. Gabrielle and Patrick fully bought into that mindset with little to no posed photos. Posed portraits are a normal part of the process for us and my goal is to make them as natural and meaningful as possible. That approach usually results in not only great photos but also a lot of fun. Gabrielle and Patrick's second date was at this great place in Kansas City called the Green Lady Lounge so we decided that was the perfect place to go for a quick environmental portrait for them. We literally were gone 30 minutes including drive time and it was so fun. So much so that at one point during our shoot inside the lounge people started cheering the newly wed couple. Awesome. June has been busy around here. Lot's to document including this wonderful wedding in Arkansas at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Wonderful celebration of two wonderful ladies. Congrats Megan and Tracey! Enjoy a little teaser of a few of my favs from the day.

Witnessing family is one of my favorite things about the business I am in. Being allowed into a family dynamic and being trusted to tell that story is an honor and a privilege. When Anna contacted me about documenting her father's memorial celebration I was excited to hear the plan and how I could tell this story. Her mom and her many siblings decided in the end to have me document the family BBQ gathering the night before rather than the actual memorial service. It was such a great idea. This small gathering that took place at the siblings home growing up was to be the first time many of them and their kids have seen each other in some time. It was such a joy to be able to document them all in and around the house they grew up in. A house their mom would soon be selling in order to downsize. The evening ended up being a combo of reunion, memorial, bbq, cousin playtime, and even 2 birthday celebrations. I enjoyed studying this family and their love for each other while making a point to document what made that home a home for so many years.

My favorite moment was when one of Anna's siblings wanted to reenact her favorite photo of her dad. One with him in his cowboy hat standing on stump in the front yard. Once she had her go at the photo in her dad's hat everyone wanted in on the fun including her mother. For a split second I witnessed her having a special moment standing on that same stump holding her husbands hat. Such a great thing to be able to witness and more importantly document.
