"Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things - connect." - Chief Seattle, 1854
This quote by Chief Seattle serves as a great reminder that we are not the only living beings in this big beautiful world, nor were we the first in the world. Long before our time, there were the ancient ones who have left their mark; past homes, or ancient writings on walls. Often times we as humans forget how delicate these ancient sites can be and the impact we have on them and the surrounding ecosystem. Please remember each time you venture into our beautiful region to respect and protect, not only ancient sites from the past, but also the current ecosystem and habitat of the plants and wildlife around you. During the winter many plants go dormant here in the desert. Deer and Big Horn Sheep are often seen in or near the town of Kanab as they migrate in search for food. Along with the migration of these wildlife can often come predators also in search of food. Please be aware, at this time there have been multiple Mountain Lion sightings on one of our more popular trails within the town of Kanab - Bunting Trail. Keep your distance any time you come across any wildlife and always be aware of your surroundings while in the back country.
