Red Desert Ranch

A day late, Church on Sunday:

Pardon me for being a day late. The world of EMS took me away till midnight last night.

The week has been working the rodeo nonstop and projects at the new cabin!

There is an event at the rodeo, (I’m not the fondest of)…donated or otherwise unwanted farm animals are released into the arena and the local children run after them to catch them. What you do with the animal afterwards is up to you.
I go up to everyone I can and offer a safe and good home for those animals if they are unwanted… or their parents say they can’t have them.
This rodeo, a little girl was brave enough to give me the chicken she caught and with tears in her eyes, she said she named her Cookie, but she couldn’t keep her and asked if I would give her a good home. I promised her I’d give her a good home and she could come see Cookie anytime she wanted. Sweet Cookie is missing most of her upper beak.
 Whenever a new bird comes home, they get the “Emery electrolyte and nutrition boost”. I administer it with a little syringe into their mouth. This sweet girl let me fill up her lower beak (like a spoon) with the nutrient fluid several drops at a time and tipped her head back to drink it. So very resilient!

A couple days later another person reached out saying they don’t really want the duck that they caught and asked if I would take the duck. The answer is yes! The little boy named the duck Adam.  Sweet Adam is very underweight and so I have treated him for parasites and he also has a gaping hole in his foot. But he is very wanted here at Red Desert Ranch.

Another very exciting addition is Spirit! Spirit horse is an older man, and he has worked really hard, ranching his whole life. This last month, he has come up lame and seems to have some potentially expensive conditions.
I met his owners and they were tearful and brought their children to the ranch to give Spirit a new home here.
We’ve been keeping in close touch with Spirits’ condition and his progress. And even if he doesn’t make any kind of recovery, he is free to live out his days in some beautiful wide open spaces with his new horse friends at the ranch. He couldn’t be any more beautiful or gentle and I’m really grateful to have him. Oh, the stories he will teach to people who learn from him and forward their PTSD journey at the ranch!

Meanwhile, the new Arizona Ranch and my passion project are making a lot of progress! Since last week, we now have a sound healing room and the cleanup and some repairs have already started thanks to some very kind people who have given their time and talents. (Scout, Maddy, Kubejas.)

 I realize that this needs to be a 501(c)(3) and I am getting it in the works!

Happy news!!! Desert Rose gave birth this early afternoon to a beautiful baby boy!
Both mom and baby are doing great. He is already up and standing and nursing. She is being a very protective and good mom.
I couldn’t be more proud of mama!
It being the beginning of new things and a new season here, and Passover, please help me welcome, “Shalom” to the ranch family. “Shah” for short. TJ looked up the meaning of Shalom and I think it fits perfectly.
• Wholeness and Completeness:�Shalom suggests a state of being complete and whole, both inwardly and outwardly. �• Well-being and Prosperity:�It includes health, prosperity, and the absence of conflict or harm. �• Inner Peace and Tranquility:�Shalom can refer to a state of peace within oneself, a sense of calm and contentment. �• Harmony and Peaceful Relations:�It also signifies harmonious relationships with others and a lack of conflict. �• Safety and Security:�Shalom can also mean safety, security, and the absence of danger or threat. �
 I’m so glad I could be home for the birth and that everyone is happy and healthy. Thank you to everybody who endlessly checked on my horses and specifically Desert Rose while I was out of town  and thank you for everyone who sent prayers and positive vibes for a safe pregnancy and delivery for both mom and baby.
Today is a happy day. 

Church on Sunday:
Gale force winds today! The horses are taking cover and I keep counting the chickens to make sure I still have all of them. Only kidding.
Even the strongest winds can’t knock us down, literally and figuratively. We still get outside and enjoy every day. Ava is enjoying her collection of deer antlers for this season. It is such a fun thing to walk the property and behind the house and find antlers on the ground this time of year.

Chickens and ducks are laying eggs in full force if anybody needs farm fresh eggs! (Your donation goes directly to creature care.)🥚🦆🐓🐴
When I put the old cat tree in the barn, I didn’t expect the chickens to claim it and use it to lay eggs in! They are such amusing creatures that bring me endless joy.
There have been a lot of changes lately for a lot of people. If anyone needs some ranch time and animal time to take the sting away, just know that we are here for you and please reach out.
