That’s what we love about a backyard designed for play. It may be built for the kids, but there’s something about it that brings out the kid in all of us.

We could not be happier with the extraordinary playground Jarrod and his team built for our school. The design is stunning. The beautiful stained reddish wood has transformed our campus, and the playground is woven into the existing treescape in a way that feels natural—as though it arose organically out of the wilderness.

The natural beauty was especially important to us. We wanted our students to experience a playground integrated into our large Oak trees without sacrificing the things children actually love: swings, slides, climbing, and real opportunities for active play. The result is worlds apart from the plastic, manufactured playground structures we otherwise might have installed.

The experience of working with the team was equally exceptional. They were honest and upfront from the beginning, having every important conversation with us in advance so there were no surprises. As the project evolved, they made the normal adaptations that inevitably arise during construction without turning every adjustment into a change order, as so many contractors do. The value we received for the cost was exceptional.

They also worked incredibly hard and completed the project expeditiously. Several members of my staff independently remarked that this was the hardest-working contracting crew we have ever had on our campus. They were consistently the first ones in and the last ones out.

The finished playground has genuinely transformed our school. It is beautiful, natural, functional, and a joy for our students. We will absolutely be doing more projects together in the future.

But outside looks like THIS.

One fort becomes a castle.
The bridge is obviously over hot lava. 🔥
The pool is shark-infested waters. 🦈
And that tube slide? The official emergency escape route.

This is the kind of backyard where “I’m bored” doesn’t get much airtime.

Now we need the kids to settle something for us…

Before there were screens in our hands, there were swings beneath our feet. ❤️

Remember pumping your legs as hard as you could, trying to get just a little higher? Racing your friends to see who could touch the sky? And hearing your mom call, “Dinner!” when you definitely weren’t ready to come inside?

Some of the best childhood memories were made with nothing more complicated than a backyard and a swing.

Maybe it’s time to give this generation a few of those memories, too. 🌳
