Sunmount Paving

Last week, Sunmount brought together our paving and mechanical crews for a hands-on overview of our new CAT AP1055 Paver with support from the CAT representative.

The team had the opportunity to learn about the machine, test its features, and complete some trial paving before we begin production work. The excitement was evident as everyone wanted a chance to operate the new equipment.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the training a success. We are excited to put our newest addition to work and continue delivering quality projects safely and efficiently. 🚧🚜👷‍♂️

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, we gathered at Cedar Hill State Park for our annual Hike for Hope, bringing together 107 participants across 10 teams for a day centered on connection and purpose. The group completed a two-mile hike along the shoreline of Joe Pool Lake, taking in the scenery while supporting a meaningful cause. The event was made possible by the efforts of our Sunmount ELN team, who volunteered their time to organize and set up, ensuring a smooth and successful experience for everyone involved.

Following the hike, participants enjoyed a BBQ lunch and spent time connecting through activities like co****le and lawn Jenga. The energy throughout the day reflected the strength of our team and community, and the impact was significant—raising over $50,000 in support of the cause. Events like this continue to show what can be accomplished when people come together with a shared commitment to make a difference.

🔧 After a 2024 incident in which asphalt was mistakenly discharged onto a truck cab due to a sensor misread at the loading bay, Sunmount Paving implemented a safer solution. Partnering with Stansteel, the team installed the Look, Lock & Load AI vision system, which only allows unloading when a truck bed is correctly positioned and safely identified, preventing similar incidents and equipment damage.

🔧This project reduced energy consumption and CO₂ emissions at two asphalt plants by transitioning from hot mix to warm mix asphalt production. In 2023, 260,872 tons of warm mix were produced at the Tampa and Lakeland plants, lowering target temperatures by 45°F and resulting in measurable reductions in energy use, fuel consumption, and emissions. The lower temperatures also significantly reduced fumes and visible emissions at both the plant and jobsite, improving working conditions while advancing long-term environmental performance goals.

This week, we will introduce all of our USA innovation award winners who will advance to be voted on at the Americas Oceania Conference on May 7th.

The Road To Success Scholarship Program is now open for applications. Eligible dependent children or grandchildren (age 26 and under) of full‑time employees can receive a $500 renewable scholarship for undergraduate or vocational study.
