Our Wooldridge boats looks good from the dock, but the inside is just as pretty as the outside. Clean lines, a helm that’s a pleasure to sit behind, and a windshield that frames Southeast Alaska like a painting.

Arm day looks a little different in Alaska.
Seeing a pod of orcas surface from a boat is unforgettable. But seeing them from above reveals just how much is happening beneath the surface.
What looks like a pod simply traveling together is full of social interaction. Orcas touch flippers, rub against one another, and weave through playful patterns just beneath the surface. They swim side by side, evenly spaced, gliding through the water as if moving in harmony.

230 Years of Pybus Point
Long before there was a lodge, there was a remote Alaska bay with a story waiting to be told.
From early exploration and a salmon cannery to a family homestead and the lodge you know today, swipe through more than two centuries of history at Pybus Point.
1794 Captain George Vancouver of the Royal Navy was ordered to survey the uncharted waters of Alaska’s Inside Passage. He named the small point at the mouth of the bay after his superior, Charles Pybus.
Long before there was a lodge, a commercial salmon cannery went up on this exact spot. Fishing boats, pilings and canning lines where the cabins stand today. The cannery changed hands several times before closing for good in 1928. The pilings stayed. The bay went quiet.
Half a century later, most of Admiralty Island became a national monument. Because the cannery site had been homesteaded, it stayed private property, one of the few pieces of the island that did.
The cannery property was divided and purchased by two individuals. A young family built their home on the West side, and the East became Pybus Point Lodge.
Pybus began with a main lodge, along with a fish house, dock, and a few cabins. Guests came first by boat, and later by seaplane. The remote location of Pybus Point Lodge provides for world-class fishing on tranquil waters and proximity to playful sea lions and breaching whales. In the years after the lodge was built, Pybus became more established as word spread of all the island and surrounding ocean have to offer.
Many of the outdated buildings and lodge facilities were renovated. We now have updated luxury accommodations with private rooms, en-suite bathrooms, fireplaces, and cozy living spaces that are unheard of in these remote parts of Alaska.
In 2020, Pybus Point Lodge partnered with wooldridgeboats.com and ACI Boats boats, in providing custom built boats with wrap-around decks, advanced GPS, and built-in bathrooms. We aim to provide the best equipment for fishing and the exploration of Alaska’s glaciers, waterfalls, and marine wildlife.
