We've been assisting the US Forest Service out at the Mendenhall Glacier to get their Fish Cam and Beaver Den Cam's up and running with a new infrastructure and video system. I'd say it came out pretty good!

Mendenhall Fish Cam USDA Forest Service NatureWatching can include gazing at animals from a viewing site, searching for spring wildflowers, observing the changing seasons, or immersing oneself in the clear waters of a national forest stream, among other activities.

Tip of the day: All Apps are NOT created EQUAL. Whether you have an Android or Apple device, always take care when downloading Apps, especially free ones. Be sure to check what they can access on your phone and what they are allowed to do without your consent. Always check terms of service and uninstall apps you don't use anymore!

Tip of the day: Today's consumer electronics mainly have Lithium Ion type batteries. These batteries like to be charged. They never develop a "memory" like Nicad batteries used to do. The more often you charge your device, the longer the battery will last. Plug in your phones, laptops, kindles, tablets, and other gadgets every night!

Tip of the day: With our power issues in Alaska, it's always a good rule of thumb to purchase a UPS (Battery Backup) for all your expensive electronics. Surge protectors only protect your equipment from overloads, they don't protect from our much more common occurrence of brown-outs (Low/Loss of power).

Items that should be protected are computers, LCD TV's, and home theater components. These are expensive to fix or replace if they experience a sudden surge or unclean power.

If your heating system is reliant on electronics for it's thermostat or burner equipment, protect those as well! This is also handy to know your heat will continue to work during power outages.

Tip of the day: If anyone ever calls you telling you that they work for Microsoft and your computer has "phoned home" telling them you have problems, hang up immediately. They are trying to access your computer and extort money from you.

Tip of the day: When you want to update software on your computer, ALWAYS start from the software maker's webpage, NOT google. This will make sure you get what you are actually looking for, the top responses on google ARE chocked full of malware and bloatware.
