As you may have noticed, the City of Borough of Sitka has contracted with K&E Alaska to redo the street outside of the SAIL Sitka office. We are excited to have a new and improved street after the construction is complete. However, during the construction, there may be some impacts with access to our office.
The neighborhood is currently blocked with signs that say "local access only." If you need to access our office for services, please go past these signs. For parking, if you are able to walk up a few stairs, please park in the dentist parking lot at the corner of Lake and Hirst Street.
If you are unable to walk up the stairs, we can offer a few alternatives.
For loan closet requests, we are happy to come out to the parking lot to bring your items, like walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs, etc. If you need to come in the office, please drive down Kinkead Street and go past the road closed signs and park either in the gravel next to our ramp or on the street to the north of the ramp (photos attached).
If there are cones blocking Kinkead Street, please give us a call and we will come out to help you.
Traffic flow is subject to change as the construction moves from south of our office to north of our office.
Thank you so much for being flexible during this time. Thank you to the and K&E Alaska for being flexible with us during this time. Give us a call if you have any other questions.
