Hopping on the #2016 throwback trend train. I can’t believe this was 10 years ago now — and American Idol was 12 (I am old 🙂‍↔️)! I wrote “Rio Grande” after tour, when I realized how magical the Indio desert was when the sun goes down and the moonlight glitters on the sand. I learned a lot about myself and my voice after traveling the U.S. and Canada, and not a day goes by that I’m not grateful for this crazy journey that is my life. I’ve seen and experienced so much, and this was all by the age of 25-26. I also remember this specific photoshoot by Mark Dauber and his amazing wife, Margaret; many “props” were had (that’s slang for “glasses of wine”). Although I listen back with a critical ear and can definitely hear where I could have done better, it’s nice to reminisce on this time in my life and remember what got me to where I am today. Who’d’ve thunk? It just goes to show that you’re exactly where you need to be and your future is continuously being written. Carpe Diem. ❤️

I met my friend Martin Foster at Military Influencer Conference in 2024 where he interviewed me for the first time! A lot has changed since then, and I’m grateful to have the chance to do a second interview. Whether you’re thinking about joining, a seasoned veteran, or just someone who’s in a weird place in life right now, this is worth a listen. 2025 brought some high highs and the lowest of lows. I felt joy in doing things I never imagined I could possibly do, in shattering patterns and becoming a kinder, more accepting human being of both myself and others. I showed myself what I was made of and got so far out of my comfort zone that I questioned if I really deserved it or belonged there. 2025 also brought the deepest heartbreak and grief I never could’ve imagined. I lost the one true earthly attachment I had — my dog — and it completely changed my schema. It’s bittersweet to be both proud and pained — simultaneous joy and sorrow — but, although my faith has been tested to its limits, I’m pushing on and choosing to believe I’m exactly where I need to be, exactly when I need to be there, all according to a plan that’s bigger than those I have for myself. May 2026 bring an unrelenting peace 2025 could never provide. May your hard work pay off. May we all see through a lens of curiosity rather than judgement — especially in today’s climate. For myself and for all of you, I hope you win those battles nobody else knows about but you. Happy new year, everyone. ❤️
