Congratulations to this week’s Backyard BBQ Contest winner, Julie Coffin!
Julie captured the true Southeast Alaska summer spirit with BBQ chicken during a short sunshine break in Juneau. Around here, when the sun shows up, you fire up the grill.
Thanks for sharing your backyard BBQ moment, Julie!
Want to be our next weekly winner? Upload a photo of you enjoying summer on your patio, deck or backyard burgers on the grill, family around the table, friends by the fire pit, or just soaking up a little Alaska sunshine.
Weekly prizes are from Jerry’s Meats, Glacier Gardens, Gas n Go and Landscape Alaska and every entry qualifies for the monthly grand prize: a brand-new BBQ from Western Auto Marine.
Fire up the grill, pull up a chair and show us how Southeast Alaska does summer.

Every graduation season gives us a chance to look at the faces of tomorrow — and this year, the Class of 2026 gave us plenty to be proud of.
These are the young people who have worked, grown, stumbled, learned, laughed, and pushed their way across the finish line. They are artists, athletes, future leaders, future business owners, future parents, future problem-solvers, and, most importantly, they are the next chapter of our community.
To every graduate in the Class of 2026: congratulations. This moment belongs to you, your families, your teachers, and everyone who helped you get here.
And now, we’re excited to announce the winner of our Faces of Tomorrow graduation photo contest.
Congratulations to Zoey Lamm!
Zoey wins dinner for herself and three friends at Tony’s.
Zoey, enjoy the celebration. To the entire Class of 2026, congratulations, and have a great summer!

Problem Corner returns live Monday at 11 a.m.
The good news: the show is back.
The other news: the phones are also back… technically. They are currently sitting on a desk, enjoying a quiet life of not being installed yet.
We’ve been promised they’ll be connected in the next few days, which is the phone company version of “I’m almost there.”
But here’s the exciting part: Problem Corner is adding text AND phone options.
Until the phones officially join the workforce, send your comments by text to 907-586-1800 or email [email protected].
Problem Corner returns Monday at 11 on KINY.
Same show. New options. Phones pending adult supervision.

STATE BOUND!
The Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears are headed to the Alaska State Baseball Championships after a dominant 12-2 victory over the Ketchikan Kings in the Region V Championship Game.
The Bears' offense came alive early and never let up, building a 10-run lead that brought the game to an early end in the fifth inning under the mercy rule.
Congratulations to the players, coaches, and supporters on an outstanding regional title run.
Now it's on to State next week!
Follow the Crimson Bears' journey and hear the games live on KINY, your home for Crimson Bears sports.

The Juneau Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Alaska is happening right now, bringing together athletes, law enforcement officers and community members in support of an incredible cause.
This annual 5K helps raise money for local Special Olympics athletes and sports programs, with every dollar raised staying right here in the Juneau community. It’s more than a run, it’s a powerful show of support, inclusion and community spirit.
If you’d like to support the athletes and the mission of Special Olympics Alaska, donations can still be made online: https://p2p.onecause.com/2025letrak/event/juneau

To the moms who show up every day, even when they are tired. To the grandmothers, stepmoms, foster moms, aunties, sisters and friends who help raise, guide and protect.
To the women who love with patience, carry more than most people see, and somehow still find a way to give.
Thank you.
