Happy Thanksgiving to all the writers and artists of Southeast Alaska! The team at Tidal Echoes hopes that it was full of great company and thankfulness. We would also like to officially introduce our featured artist for the 2026 edition of Tidal Echoes! It is: Davina (Cole) Drones!!
Davina (Cole) Drones (Tlingit) is Yanyedí of the T’aaku Kwáan. An indigenous artist who works with fibers, animal skins, and other regalia to connect with her culture and create beautiful works of art. Davina creates work that is both functional and beautiful. She won Best of Skin & Fur, Sewing Division in the Juried Art Show & Competition in conjunction with Celebration 2020 held by Sealaska Heritage Institute. She has shown her work in various galleries and exhibits throughout the state and country. She also teaches classes at UAS and loves seeing her students learn weaving for the first time. We hope that you’ll enjoy reading about her artistic process in the upcoming edition!
