This sweet little waterfront project is the ultimate luxury tiny house. A converted existing shed right on the water remodeled with locally sourced materials and color ways to match the beauty that surrounds it. Coming in under 200 sq ft, we crammed serious style into one of the smallest footprints possible. Style. Substance. And seriously cozy 😍😍😍 Can I move in ASAP 🤩🤩🙋🏼♀️

Here’s a prime example of how often I stop, slow down, and take a peek back, and share, my old work. 🤦🏼♀️ 6 years ago TeamHubs welded some custom legs to this gorggggggggggeous solid cherry wood slab we acquired. And a headboard was born. Sure live edge has come and gone, but Solid wood will never go out of style IMO 🤷🏼♀️ Paired here with Stainless Steel/solid Acai CB2 Nightstands, hand made Merimekko and St. Lauren Pillows, West Elm Linen Embroidered Duvet, Marble and Brass bedside Lamps, Vintage Wool Tapestry, Solid Açaí Dresser Refurbished and no room is complete without some handmade vintage ceramics 😍😍. Sure, now a days the room has completely changed, an edited moodier take, new black artwork, a deep hand embroidered Taupe Duvet, Pendleton Blankets. But THAT headboard will always be the focal point of the room!

Designing a custom built contemporary house smack dab on the water in Sitka AK. I pulled together a very initial , I loved it so hard I had to share! Walnut cabinetry, Hickory floors, matte black accents, and tonal play within textures capitalizing on neutrals that will outlast any trendy tile. Smooth and calming, and never over powering our dynamic views right out the window!

If you are lucky enough to be taken care of by the best dentist in the world you will have already seen the transformation the office has undertaken. I am sharing a sneak peek of the , the Modern Mountain inspiration the design language I derived from our natural scenery, is now in full force! Pictures don’t do justice to the amber glow of the hand blown pendants, the deep cobalts that reflect our waters, the siennas and burnt umbers found in the oversized couch, touches of walnut, offset with layered tonal textures. Floor to ceiling honed Carrera Marble on the back wall and wrapped around the new desk, topped with quartz, mimicking the striations surrounding us, and so perfectly contrasted to the custom large scale matte black signage hung on standoffs. An oversized contemporary painting by me, adds a little quirkiness and keeps the office from feeling too stuffy, or taken too seriously. It’s a place to relax, and feel at ease. Enjoy some of the before pictures, and you can see how the new flooring, walls, ceiling, lighting, furniture, have transformed this office. We aren’t finished yet, but boy we have come a long way!

A dramatic new layout and tile design renderings show the difference every detail can make, the proof is in the before pictures! This quickly became one of my favorite projects due to the challenging space restrictions. Adding a central double-sided fireplace focal point, instantly updated and refreshed this gorgeous waterfront residence on Cohen Drive. Originally dark, cramped and dated, adding a central light reflecting fireplace creates zones and anchors the room, while magnifying the vertical height of the main living room, visually increasing the small footprint and creates a grand environment. Fire lit conversations from both dining and living room increase the entertaining qualities, and allows for extra seating. New furnishing to modernize, a new tile wrapped island to pull the fireplace modernization into the kitchen brining design cohesion, new lighting schedule, windows, doors and hardware, all the work that went into this residence was worth it!

It’s been a hot minute since I have kept up on my design work, I have been so lucky to be inundated with commissioned artwork(!!!) Here’s a preview of what a designer really does! Before, a few clients requirements scribbled on a paper, and many many hours later, proposed designs of a new “boat garage”. I turned this square into a hip (get it?😂🤪) place to hang out with family on our grey Juneau days, incorporated tons of storage, climbing wall, personal custom gym, library, a mother in law suite (to help offset construction prices and get the most bang for our buck), there’s a workshop, second story decks overlooking the kids playground, and additional car parking. Phew! This design conundrum was a doozy, but what DOESN’T this new construction offer!? The exterior was sculptured to blend with the aesthetic of the neighborhood and existing home, with the addition of a touch of cedar to nod to a more rustic approach inside. There’s a tongue and groove ceiling for warming up our overcast days, a traditional stone fireplace, log built in window benches, custom metal railings. This became an Alaskan reprieve.

It’s finalllllllly here!!!! And boy did I encounter every challenge in the book with this project. 🥴 Naive young me, back in November, began drawing a little secret surprise for Teller’s Birthday, to make him a custom longboard he has been begging for. Long, long story short, lucky little stinker got this, brand new Arbor drop through longboard, went to our local skate shop, picked out his own bearings, trucks and wheels, and assembled this custom complete with dad by the fire. Today we finally received the UV vinyl sticker I designed and we finally finished this boys 8th birthday present. (only a month late 🤦🏼♀️) A little background art inspiration, my boy loves Hawaii and saves his meager allowance to buy tiki masks when we are on vacation there. so I incorporated one to remember his sweetness and style. I created a totem style to speak to/celebrate our lives here in Alaska. Speaking of Alaska, I drew the northern lights, and the Big Dipper in the stars above the mountains, we may move on from AK one day, and I wanted to have his board reflect our lives at this time. The skull, ironically isn’t morbid, but represents living life to its fullest, the snake, again not sinister, but like the shedding of its skin, speaks to reinvention and learning. And last but not least, the galaxy within us all. Arent we all just an amazing masterpiece waiting to be discovered? I am always fascinated by the utter complexities of everyone I meet. we are all the same and yet so vastly different. That dichotomy to me is beautiful. And, well, Teller just thinks skulls are “ cool”. okay, now stop raining so we can ride!!!

Over a month ago I scored the SCORE of a lifetime!! For $120 I bought a nasty broken chair from a trailer park, and Team Hubs&I have spent our sanity and our last bit of energy to polish this literal diamond in the rough into the gem it really is. 1963 Original Walnut Plycraft Mr. Chair. REAL actual factual Mulhauser made....with original tag! a $3000+ chair for $100 plus labor and materials. We used 0000 (quadruple naught!!) steel wool to protect the walnut and pull off the finish, painted wood grain with oil based paint where stain wouldn’t take, bought all new stainless steel screws, made 68 new buttons, created a custom pattern based on the original design, learned how to diamond button tuft, made a custom pill shaped pillow, and actually somehow managed to pul it off, the newbs we were. I can finally LOUNGE even with the daily kid mess all around. Now to decide the hard things, like which rug to style it with 😂😂

Way up here in the North, lighting is always an issue for us. A fun little DIY with my littlest guy, and we made this totally awesome bedside light for him. (we really really needed to improve the light quality in his room for our upcoming homeschool year) Light and bright, little man used the drill, screwdriver and learned about electricity, all while up-cycling an old skateboard deck we doodled all over together. These are my favorite projects, kids room + out of the box creativity + making with my son = win, win, win situation over here.

Trying to prepare for a design saavy upcoming Homeschool year with a cozy reading spot and ton of *hidden* storage. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 to hiding the inevitable mess 🤦🏼♀️ Hubs once again brought my vision to life by making me custom legs and this wall mounted modern cabinet to compliment the new Mid Century Bent Wood Coffee Table I scored 😍😍😍😍.
