The third leg of the African Diaspora trip took the group to Paris!! We learned about the contributions of James Baldwin, Richard Wright, and Josephine Baker to history and society. Highlights included a restored Notre Dame, the Sacre Couer, the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Elysee, and of course Versailles. C’est magnifique!! What an incredible experience our group of students, teachers, family and friends from had in Europe this past week. It was true in its finest form. The seed that has been planted in these travelers will certainly for they are with a new outlook on food, language, culture and society.

Experiential learning and a true reflection of historical significance continued for the Clayton County Public Schools traveling group in England and France. They visited the D-Day museum in Portsmouth, the Caen Memorial, the American Cemetery, Utah and Gold Beaches, and the beautiful town of Arromanches-les-Bains. It is hard to understand the significance of the D-Day invasion until you see and imagine it in person. These students will have a new perspective when they learn about it in American History.

Experiential learning on the itinerary for students. The CCPS Travels program is on the road this summer. The district trip took a group or parents, students, teachers, friends and family to London and Paris. Highlights in London included the Tower, Buckingham Palace, a wonderful workshop learning about the people and history of the African diaspora, and walking tour of Brixton, and a tour of the D-Day museum in Portsmouth. We even got to see the Jubilee parade rehearsal in London with horses, carriages, and marching bands. What a wonderful time to celebrate history and culture and learn about resilience and grit while traveling. Clayton County Public Schools

Today, we share the information about the journey our students made to South Africa in June 2025. What an unforgettable journey it’s been! Imagine stepping off a plane and hearing the words, “Welcome Home!” That’s exactly the heartwarming greeting our students and parents received as they touched down in South Africa. This summer, 30+ Clayton County Public Schools travelers embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Kruger National Park. From savoring new flavors and dancing in the streets, to standing in awe at historic landmarks and taking in breathtaking landscapes, every moment was unforgettable. Our students experienced the thrill of spotting lions, elephants, and giraffes on safari, and they formed genuine connections with local South Africans in their villages. The trip was more than just travel—it was an opportunity to explore, learn, and create lifelong memories. Your adventure is waiting! Don’t miss the next CCPS Travels journey. Check your email from CCPS Info beginning Monday, August 25th for the details about the 2027 trips and get ready for the experience of a lifetime!
