* Is this the most melodically enriching song to your dog? It may be. It may be to you as well. Mozart’s Requiem has so many twists and turns, ups and downs, left and right, acceleration and pauses, hard stops, vocals, layer after layer, slow reveals, chaotic unravels.

Why? Why do you love a song? You love the pattern, the sequence, the beat. But your song also has to be layered, jump out of sequence. Dogs think sequence – ABC.— Your brain is also programmed to follow typical music patterns. Requiem, like all great songs get your attention because it changes. Your brain tells you the song is going to keep going to the right and then it takes a sharp left. Sections are very soft and then they’re interrupted by explosions of hard sounds, etc., etc.

Dogs are acoustically curious as we are. Change in melody, tempo, rhythm is acoustically interesting
