I watched two 2003 Ferrari 360 Modenas sell four days apart last month and I’m still thinking about it.

One brought $144,000. The other brought $293,500.

Same year. Same body. Same engine sitting behind your head.

What separated them was 5,000 miles and a third pedal.

The miles don’t get you there. Our board prices 360 mileage at about $5.29 a mile, so call the odometer $26,000 of it. That leaves roughly $123,000 sitting on the gearbox.

And it wasn’t a fluke. Split every sale on the board by transmission and the F1 cars land at $111,000. The factory six speeds land at $293,500. Classic.com runs softer than we do but it leans the same way, $83,369 against $151,084.

Here’s the part that should bother you.

Our fair number on a 360 reads $148,823. Only four of the twenty sales came anywhere near it. That number lives in the empty space between two markets and nobody actually paid it.

So why does the pedal keep winning? About a quarter of 360s left Maranello with the gated box. On the F430 it’s closer to one in ten. On the 458 you couldn’t order one at all. That pool is never getting bigger.

Meanwhile the F1 cars keep handing their owners clutch and pump bills, which quietly pushes the next buyer toward the manual anyway or going manual conversion.

Figure out the gearbox before you argue about the price. And if somebody quotes you fair on a 360 without asking what’s between the seats, they’re guessing.

At Porschefest, our Lancer Evo was right. As close to perfect as this car has ever been.

That didn’t happen by accident. The crew at GT Performance Inc helped us chase down cooling for both the car and the driver, then dialed the suspension to near perfect. What you see in these slides is what that work looks like from the outside. An Evo on old tires with a 992 GT3 in its windshield, then in its mirrors.

PCA Potomac Region Porschefest recap:
1. We brought a Mitsubishi to Porschefest.
2. We camped at the track all weekend. Calling it camping is generous, the RV was fully decked out. This was a bucket list thing and we enjoyed every minute of it.
3. Family and a few friends came through, which made the weekend that much better.
4. And the biggest win: a modified Evo making less than 400hp, on old tires, not getting completely gapped by a Porsche 992 GT3.

Swipe through the pictures. Summit Point was wall to wall Porsches (with some other makes sprinkled in) and we shot the ones that stopped us walking. The Carrera GT and the GT2 RS Clubsport earned extra frames.
