918 Black Sox

Battled up all day and came away with a 3rd place finish in a 12U tournament. Proud of the way these boys competed against older competition and kept showing up all weekend.

918 Black Sox 11U went 3-1, picking up wins over Fury Baseball-Sobolik 12U, Oklahoma Elite 12U, and BAMBINOS 12U before finishing the weekend in 3rd. The boys scored 31 runs across 4 games and kept applying pressure on the bases all day long.

Big weekend for our squad, and proud of the fight, toughness, and resilience they showed. Declan Landon came up huge at the plate and Preston Bundy gave us a strong weekend on the mound.

We’ll keep learning, keep improving, and keep rolling.

⚾️ GAME 4 FINAL: OK Express 7, 918 Black Sox 11U 0

The Black Sox wrapped up the weekend with a tough one against OK Express.

Declan Landon collected the team’s only hit, while Xander Martinez and Brody Krzych each reached via walk. Offensively, we never found the big inning we had in the first three games.

On the mound, Carter Wuebben worked 3.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits with 5 strikeouts. Graham Asakevich finished the final 1.1 innings, striking out 3 and not allowing an earned run.

The difference was traffic on the bases. We issued 5 walks, and Express capitalized late to create separation.

Not the finish we wanted, but the group still finished the day 3-1 against 12U competition and earned a 3rd-place tournament finish.

⚾️ GAME 1 FINAL: Oklahoma Sox 11U 8, 918 Black Sox 11U 2

The Black Sox battled their way into a 2-1 lead in the top of the 3rd, with Declan Landon and Graham Asakevich each driving in a run, but Oklahoma Sox answered with a seven-run bottom half to take control.

Paxon Peaster and Preston Bundy each collected a hit, while Brody Krzych gave us a strong start on the mound with 2.0 innings, 2 hits allowed, 1 run and 3 strikeouts.

We also drew 3 walks and swiped 5 bases, but one big inning was the difference.

Tough start to the day. Short memory. Back to work.

⚾️ FINAL: Oklahoma Bombers 11U 4, 918 Black Sox 11U 3

This one came down to the final inning.

The Black Sox built a 3-1 lead through three, getting RBI from Graham Asakevich, Waylon Callery, and Dawson DeWees, but Oklahoma Bombers pushed across three runs in the top of the 4th to steal it late.

Waylon Callery led the offense with a 2-for-2 day and an RBI, while Declan Landon scored twice and added a double. On the mound, Brody Krzych struck out 5 over 3 innings and kept us in control for most of the game.

We also out-hit the Bombers 5-3, but this game has a cruel little habit of caring more about the scoreboard than the hit column.

Tough finish, but plenty to build on.
