We spent a decade optimizing the wrong unit of measurement.

Clicks. Impressions. Sessions. Cost per lead. Every one of those describes behavior without ever describing a buyer. You can win every dashboard metric in your deck and still have no idea who to call on Monday morning.

Person-level marketing changes the unit of analysis:

From audience segments to named individuals
From "someone in this industry" to this person, this title, this company
From a 30-day cookie window to a permanent record you own
Here's what actually changes operationally. When marketing hands sales a name, a validated email, a job title, an employer, and the exact pages that person read, the handoff stops being a debate. Nobody argues about lead quality when the lead has a first name.

The teams pulling ahead right now aren't buying more traffic. They're identifying the traffic they already paid for.

What percentage of your current site traffic could your sales team name today?

"Able to turn prospects into actual leads" | Convert Anonymous Website Visitors into Leads 10/06/2026

"The ability to have this amount of data for the type of visitors you did not have before or that you could not track is extremely valuable. it has allowed us to nurture prospects and turned them into actual leads."

The real value isn’t just knowing who visited your website. It’s what you can do next.

For this customer, better visitor insights meant being able to nurture previously unidentified prospects—and turn them into actual leads.

That’s the kind of feedback we love. Not just more data, but more opportunities to put it to work.

Roughly 2% of website visitors ever fill out a form. That’s the number. The other 98%? They come and go without a trace.

It’s not that they’re uninterested. It’s that they don’t want friction, and they’re tired of giving up personal data for gated content or follow-up calls they didn’t ask for. Meanwhile, many marketers are still relying on the old playbook: more forms, more friction, more noise.

The smarter move is investing in a first-party data strategy that meets visitors where they are. That means identifying high-intent traffic ethically, connecting behavior to CRM insights, and using AI to personalize only when it adds value — not just because we can.

If you want to turn that invisible 98% into something meaningful, it starts with respecting intent and rethinking what real engagement looks like.

Most identity resolution vendors will tell you how many profiles they can match.

Very few will tell you how.

That distinction matters more than the coverage number. Deterministic matching uses exact, verified identifiers, a confirmed email or a validated login, and generally produces a lower false-positive rate. Probabilistic matching infers a likely connection from timing, device traits, and network patterns. It extends your reach and introduces more uncertainty doing it.

Neither one is wrong. Blending them without telling you is the problem.

When a provider reports broad reach without explaining its matching method, high-confidence and low-confidence matches end up in the same audience. Your targeting gets softer, your outreach lands worse, and your attribution quietly stops being trustworthy. You end up optimizing around signals you can't defend in a QBR.

So the questions worth asking any vendor:

Which matching method produces these profiles?
How many can you actually resolve, and at what confidence?
How defensible are those matches if someone challenges them?
Are they actionable, or just countable?
We wrote up the full explanation: how identity resolution works end to end, deterministic vs. probabilistic in plain language, why it fixes attribution and suppression before it fixes anything else, and the three misconceptions that keep tripping teams up. It's a four-minute read.

Marketers: has anyone actually asked their vendor which matching method sits behind their match rate? Curious what answers you've gotten.

Keywords don't buy software. People do.

We spend our days bidding on phrases, hoping the right human happens to type one. Person-Level Advertising skips the guessing and targets the actual individual researching your category right now. Not a lookalike. Not a segment. A person, chosen from 42,000+ intent topics.

Same budget. Real names on the other end of it.

Which would you rather bid on: a keyword, or the person behind it?

What if the problem with digital advertising isn’t your creative, your budget, or your offer?

What if you’re simply advertising to the wrong level of the audience?

Most advertising starts with segments: companies, demographics, lookalikes, cookies, or broad intent groups. But companies don’t buy. Audiences don’t buy. People do.

Person-Level Advertising shifts the question from:

“Who might be interested?”

to:

“Which real people are actively researching what we sell right now?”

That changes everything—from who sees your ads to when your sales team gets involved. Visual Visitor uses identity-based targeting and 42,000+ intent topics to help brands reach identifiable, in-market prospects before they ever visit the website.

Maybe the future of advertising isn’t reaching more people.

Maybe it’s knowing exactly who you want to reach.
