The Race Report

It’s been a fun first few months for Velovit’s 2025.

In The Mississippi Gravel Cup, Alston Bozeman took first, Randy Tackett 2nd place, and Tommy Hixon 3rd place overall in their respective categories. Heath Morrison and Lisa Smith also raced.

In Alabama, Peter Stephens raced the Auburn Flyers stage race.

In The Colony, TX, Shane Crowe took 5th overall in the Luck Of The Irish duathlon 40+ category.

And in Jackson, Mike MacGown finished 2nd overall and 1st in Masters in the Run the Rainbow for Children’s 10k race. Mike’s daughter Maddie won her age group in 5k.

Velovit won all the duathlons at last weekend’s Brett Robinson Alabama Costal Triathlon in Gulf Shores. Mike MacGown won the Olympic distance duathlon. In the sprint duathlon, Shane Crowe won the men’s and Maddie MacGown won the women’s.

New teammate Jason Marshall was top 5 in his age group in the Olympic distance triathlon.

Velovit takes 3 podiums at Cheaha! Eric Nelson won the 126 mile Ultra. Shout out to hometown friend of Velovit, Jack White who took 3rd in the Ultra.

On the women’s side, Michelle Buttigieg-Chesteen took 2nd in the 100 mile Cheaha Challenge and 2nd in the Cheaha Time Trial.

Recently in LaPlace, LA Shane Crowe took 3rd in the LAMBRA Time Trial Championship and Jason Fraude took 2nd.

Shane Crowe competed in last weekend’s Luck of the Irish Duathlon in The Colony, TX. Shane turned in a hot mile in the first split, followed by the day’s 2nd fastest bike split, then fought through completing the 5k split - good for 5th overall and 5th in the 40+ category.

David Huckaby claims back-to-back short course title at ! Kevin Solomon put in a strong effort in the long course, finishing 12th out of 93 racers.

The previous weekend at , Will Hewitt claimed the Alabama State Road Race Championship in 40+ category and won 3rd in the overall 40+ road race. Fletcher Goodwin won the Cat 4 Road Race. Fletcher also managed 4th in the Omnium. Shane Crowe took 3rd in the Cat 5 Road Race. Also racing in Mobile were Eric Nelson and Allister Stinson.

Mike MacGown took 1st place in his age group and 20th overall at Nashville’s Hot Chocolate Run which featured around 2,000 runners.

Meanwhile in Alabama, Shane Crowe took 2nd in the Cat 4/5 Time Trial event at the Auburn Cycling Festival Omnium. Also racing in the omnium were Allister Stinson and Chip Parker.
