πβ€οΈππ Celebrating Freedom, Culture, and Community at Margaret Walker Alexander Library! β€οΈπππ
Our Juneteenth Celebration was an inspiring and unforgettable event filled with history, art, music, and cultural expression.
A heartfelt thank you to our keynote speaker, Mzee Asinia Lukata, for sharing wisdom, knowledge, and reflections on the significance of Juneteenth.
The rhythmic sounds of the Djembe drums, performed by Jerry Jenkins, set the stage for an energetic celebration, followed by captivating dancing and the powerful beats of the dundun drums by Bridgeet Olubala.
We are also grateful to Ashley Michael for her moving and powerful spoken-word performance, which touched the hearts of everyone in attendance.
Special thanks to our talented visual artists for sharing their creativity and beautiful works with the community:
π¨ Shambe' Jones
π¨ Raheecoh Ishakarah
π¨ Kwame Braxton
π¨ Frankisha Jacobs
Thank you to everyone who joined us in honoring the legacy of Juneteenth through education, art, music, and unity. Together, we celebrated freedom, resilience, and the rich cultural heritage that continues to inspire future generations.

πΏπ We would like to take a moment to thank Jacksonians Locke Ward and Mark Mori, along with their dedicated crew, for taking the initiative to clean up the lot at the Willie Morris Library!
Over the past few years, Locke Ward has been on a mission to help keep our streets and neighborhoods clean, and with the support of community-minded partners like Mark Mori, that mission continues to make a positive impact throughout Jackson. Their hard work, leadership, and commitment to community service are helping create cleaner, safer, and more welcoming spaces for everyone.
