In a beautiful celebration of legacy and talent, internationally acclaimed saxophonists (top right) and eZra Brown (top left), who is also owner of in Jackson, MS, came together to pass the "torch" of a signature saxophone Brown gave to Burton years ago that now belongs to rising star Omari Hart (center), a junior at Murrah High School . Hart is no ordinary student. He plays over 10 instruments, composes original music, and has already had one of his arrangements performed by his school's marching band. With multiple soloist awards under his belt, including honors from William Carey and Alcorn State jazz festivals, he represents the next wave of musical brilliance hailing from Jackson. This wasn't just a gift; it was a nod to the future, a symbol of belief, and a reminder that when the community invests in youth, greatness follows. Hart, a member of , which performed at Soule' on July 13, 2025, enjoyed playing a few numbers with Brown, who, on another note, is the only known African American saxophone craftsman.
