🐾 **Understanding Dog Body Language: What Is Your Dog Trying to Tell You?** 🐾

Dogs may not be able to speak our language, but they are constantly communicating with us through their body language! Learning to recognize these signals can help us better understand how our dogs are feeling and prevent stressful situations. ❤️

🐶 **A relaxed dog may show:**
• A loose, wiggly body
• Soft, relaxed eyes
• A naturally positioned tail
• Relaxed ears
• An open, relaxed mouth

These are signs your dog is likely feeling comfortable and happy!

⚠️ **Signs your dog may be uncomfortable or stressed include:**
• Lip licking when there is no food around
• Yawning when they aren't tired
• Turning their head or body away
• Tucking their tail
• Pinning their ears back
• Excessive panting
• “Whale eye” — showing the whites of their eyes
• Suddenly becoming very still or stiff

🚨 **A stiff or frozen dog should always be taken seriously.** A dog that becomes rigid, stares intensely, growls, or shows their teeth is communicating that they are uncomfortable and need space. These behaviors shouldn't be punished. Instead, give the dog distance and remove whatever is making them uncomfortable when possible.

One important thing to remember is that **body language needs to be looked at as a whole.** A wagging tail doesn't always mean a dog is happy! Dogs can wag their tails when they are excited, nervous, frustrated, or unsure. Look at the entire body and the situation to understand what your dog is really saying.

❤️ **The better we understand our pets, the better we can advocate for them!**

The next time your dog gives you a little yawn, turns their head away, or suddenly gets stiff, take a moment to ask yourself: **“What are they trying to tell me?”** 🐾

Meet Latte ☕
Latte is a tan Lab mix who has bravely committed to having absolutely no personality.
Does she have a favorite toy? No.
Does she have a quirky little habit? Not that anyone has noticed.
Does she have strong opinions? Apparently not.
Latte simply exists. She walks. She eats. She sleeps. She looks at you with the neutral expression of someone waiting for a bus.
And honestly? There’s something beautiful about that.
Latte isn’t going to demand that you throw the ball 47 times. She isn’t going to reorganize your house. She probably won’t judge your life choices. She will just quietly occupy approximately 6 feet of your couch and accept whatever happens next.
If you’re looking for a dog with big energy, dramatic flair, or a complicated emotional backstory, Latte may not be your girl.
But if you’re looking for a low-key tan Lab mix who brings absolutely nothing to the table except being a dog named Latte, she could be perfect.
Latte: No thoughts. No drama. Just Latte.
