The Relationship Between Cold Stress and Pneumonia

Cold stress doesn't automatically mean a piglet will develop pneumonia.

But chilling can weaken a young piglet and make it more vulnerable to respiratory problems, especially when other factors such as poor ventilation, high humidity or infectious organisms are present.

So don't just treat pneumonia.

Look at the environment that may be contributing to the problem.

Treatment is important, but prevention is better.

KuneKune piglets. 2 weeks old. They are handled daily and are eating well from a pan. Colorful siblings. They will sell at 12:00 this Saturday, August 29 as a part of Danville Auction's Unusual/Mini Animal Sale.

My niece is competing in Miss Teen USA tonight. I’m so nervous and excited I couldn’t watch it alone.

Adding to our line up of new Barnyard Friends, PIGLETS!! These two babies, Charlotte and Wilbur, are around 6 weeks old now, and look even smaller in person. Due to their size, they will only be out in the Barnyard during certain times (usually from 9 am - 3 pm, but it can vary). Please do not feed them any human food or grass! They are still bottle feeding and it will upset their stomachs. Please do NOT enter the enclosure and try to pet them either.

Tiny but full of personality! Our mini piglets are too cute to handle. 😍
