Some of the best parts of a conference happen between the sessions.

SPRF Conferences gave our PRAM Central members time to reconnect, meet communicators from across the region and spend a few days with people who understand the work we do.

A strong brand starts with knowing who you are, what makes you different and how to make people remember it. Our speaker this month has figured out how to do exactly that.

At our October chapter meeting, Laughs & Branding with Mary Ryan Brown, the comedian, writer and performer will share how she turned her Southern roots, distinct voice and sense of humor into a nationally recognized brand and a career that continues to grow.

We’ll hear the story behind the brand, what she’s learned along the way and how communicators can apply those same lessons to the work we do every day. And knowing Mary Ryan, we’ll probably laugh quite a bit in the process.

This month’s gathering is also our Annual Membership Meeting, so it’s one of the best meetings of the year to introduce someone new to PRAM Central. Bring a coworker, friend or guest who wants to meet our members, learn more about the chapter and see what our organization is all about.

Congratulations to Sophie McNeil Wolf, APR, who was recognized as a 2026 SPRF Senior Practitioner at this year’s Southern Public Relations Federation Conference!

The Senior Practitioner Award honors veteran public relations professionals who have earned the respect of their peers through years of experience, leadership, service and a commitment to the profession.

Sophie continues to make an impact not only through her work, but through the time and energy she gives back to the PR community. We’re proud to have her representing PRAM Central and even prouder to celebrate this well-earned recognition.

Congratulations to Jan Schaefer, APR, the newest PRAM Central member to be inducted into the Southern Public Relations Hall of Fame!

The Hall of Fame recognizes public relations professionals and educators who have made an extraordinary, lasting impact on the profession through their accomplishments, leadership and service. It is the highest honor bestowed by the Southern Public Relations Federation, and we couldn’t be prouder to see Jan join this distinguished group of practitioners.

Jan’s impact on public relations and the professionals who have had the opportunity to learn from and work alongside her is certainly worth celebrating.
