Rankings: Mississippi ranked 3rd in the nation for primary and secondary syphilis, 5th for gonorrhea, and 2nd for chlamydia according to 2023 CDC data.

HIV: With approximately 11,900 people living with HIV, the state has the 5th highest diagnosis rate in the country. Black Mississippians are disproportionately affected, representing nearly 70% of all new HIV diagnoses.

Congenital Syphilis: A 1,200% increase in cases over the last decade has caused the medical community to label the rise an epidemic.

Location Impact: Jackson frequently ranks as one of the top U.S. cities for STD rates, with high concentrations of cases.
