A classic Ford Bronco is not the kind of vehicle you want to approximate. When EMS3D takes on a full-body scan like this, the goal is to capture the real measurements first, from the body lines and panel shapes to the openings and hard-to-measure areas that matter later in the build.
With the HandySCAN 3D|MAX Series, the team can scan large, complex vehicle surfaces and bring that data into Creaform Metrology Suite to support digital twin creation, reverse engineering, CAD work, and custom-fit components. For a project built around such a recognizable shape, having the right geometry from the start makes all the difference.
Thanks to EMS for sharing a closer look at how FARO CREAFORM technology supports their process on this iconic build.

Last week, we teamed up with ้ๆฅญๆ็ - General Integration Technology in Taiwan for an Aerospace & Defense seminar focused on precision, performance, and the role of 3D measurement in advanced manufacturing.
The session brought together live demonstrations on drone and aerospace components, including optical 3D scanning with the MetraSCAN 3D and the HandySCAN 3D EVO Series. Attendees were able to see how accurate 3D data can support dimensional inspection, surface deviation analysis, reverse engineering, and quality control on lightweight structures where geometry, alignment, and repeatability are critical.
Thank you to GIT for the collaboration, and to everyone who joined us for the discussions and demonstrations.

Casting inspection gets complicated quickly when parts move beyond simple dimensions. Wall thickness, contours, radii, surface deviations, and customer CAD models all have to line up, especially when components are going into demanding applications like valve bodies, gearboxes, and EV transmission systems.
Bluemount Castings turned to FARO CREAFORM 3D measurement solutions to make that process faster and easier to communicate with global customers. With HandySCAN 3D and Creaform Metrology Suite, their team can scan complex castings, compare them to CAD models, generate clear inspection reports, and support reverse engineering work directly from accurate 3D data.

Behind the Red Dot Award for the HandySCAN 3D | EVO Series is a design approach shaped by real operators, real parts, and real industrial conditions. Nicolas, Industrial Designer at FARO CREAFORM, brings that perspective to the story behind EVO and what this recognition means.
That's what makes EVO interesting from a design point of view. The integrated display, real-time guidance, AR capability, and photo documentation are not there to add complexity. They are there to make the scanning process feel more natural, so operators can stay focused on the part, the data, and the inspection work in front of them.

In many plants, replacement parts are not always easy to source. Sometimes the first step is simply capturing what already exists with enough accuracy to rebuild, inspect, or adapt it.
Gustavo recently shared a good look at that reality in the field. When a part is already installed, worn, modified, or no longer available from the original supplier, having the right 3D data makes the next step much clearer. With the HandySCAN 3D and Creaform Metrology Suite, including Scan-to-CAD and Inspection, teams can document the real part, compare it, and use that information to support reverse engineering or quality control work.

When turbine components are part of the job, inspection needs to happen where the work actually takes place. David Gamez from Siemens Energy shared a strong example of this approach, using the MetraSCAN 3D to inspect large components while bringing the data straight into the Creaform Metrology Suite.
This way of working goes beyond speeding up measurement. Having a complete digital view of the part makes it possible to assess wear, fitment, alignment, and repair conditions in the same environment where decisions are made. It changes how inspection and repair teams approach their work, especially on large, complex assets.
Thanks to David Gamez and Siemens Energy for sharing their experience.

Last chance to register for tomorrowโs live webinar. If difficult surfaces are part of your inspection work, this is a good one to catch.
Will Pitarello will show FAROBlu LLPs powered by DTEX in action with the Quantum X FaroArm and 8-Axis Max, with a focus on faster capture, cleaner scan data, and up to 60% improvement in time to data. The session is built for teams working in quality control, inspection, QA, and production measurement, especially when reflective, dark, or high-contrast parts make scanning more complicated than it should be.

When a six-stage radial gear compressor has to be measured across five sides, simple point checks are not enough. Everllence needed to inspect several identical machines for a carbon capture plant, including inlet and outlet flanges, pipe interfaces, and deviations from the CAD model.
A CMM was not an option for machines of this size, and a laser tracker could not see every surface from one position. Using MaxSHOT 3D for photogrammetry, HandySCAN 3D for large-part scanning, and the Creaform Metrology Suite to bring the measurement data together, Everllence was able to capture a clear 3D view of the full assembly directly in the production environment.

When the scan data is visible directly on the scanner, mobility becomes more than just removing a cable. With the Mobility Kit and HandySCAN 3D | EVO Series, the operator can move around the part while keeping the scan, controls, and next decisions on the EVO integrated display.
That makes a difference when youโre working around large parts, tight spaces, or surfaces that require constant repositioning. Instead of splitting attention between the scanner and another screen, the workflow stays close to the part while maintaining the metrology-grade accuracy expected from the EVO Series.
