The array of life on Earth is incredible, but much of it is increasingly under threat.

Our mission is to share our love of living things with fellow biophiles through art while protecting our Earth and its inhabitants - big and small - by giving back.

Maybe one of the best science graphics you will ever see! 😁 in 2021, Inaka & Kimura found that bathing in Japanese hot springs improves skin health of Capybaras! And even found that capys close their eyes and enjoy the baths when most comfortable 🛁

When you’re the result of millions of years of evolution and end up as an overgrown lizard with an overbite 😅 Sorry Casea broilii, you’re beautiful on the inside!

Today the Monarch butterfly, a
cultural icon of North America was internationally listed as endangered (World Conservation Congress]). The Monarch is one of very few invertebrates which has received the benefit of international attention and conservation actions, and yet still is perilously threatened with extinction; imagine the state of the thousands of other native species which had not had that opportunity while habitat destruction, exploding development, and pesticide use have run rampant across our planet.

The best ways to help monarchs and their habitat is to:
1) Plant milkweed *native to your area*
2) Do not use pesticides, and discourage their use everywhere.
3) If you have a yard, plant as many native plants and flowers as you can to bolster pollinator populations, including monarchs.
4) Share what you know with others!
5) Provide optimal habitat for monarchs, with more details here:

Only together can we help save this iconic species!

🌍 Happy World Wildlife Day! 🦅 Today we celebrate what makes our planet so special: the incredible diversity of life found in every corner of our planet. Today we celebrate the wildlife that makes our planet so vibrant, our cultures more rich, and our lives more fulfilling. We also today recognize that our way of living is dramatically impacting the very character of our planet. Wildlife populations have collapsed dramatically over the past 50 years. The 2020 WWF Living Planet Report indicated that humans have caused a 68% decrease in wildlife populations globally between 1970-2016, a terrifying loss when considering the role all wildlife plays in maintaining a healthy and habitable planet.

It’s on all of us to be aware of the impacts we have on our planet and relentlessly push for leadership that puts the planet first, and the planet before profits.

Today and every day we strive to pursue a more just world: one that Dr. King so passionately advocated for. We remember him today not only as a leader in the civil rights movement in the United States, but a visionary for human, labor, and environmental rights. “It really boils down to this: that all life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied into a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one destiny, affects all indirectly.” -Martin Luther King Jr., Christmas 1967
