Congratulations Adrian, Broadcom Coding with Commitment® winner at State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa!

Broadcom Coding with Commitment® recognizes students in middle school who combine STEM learning with coding to solve a community problem they care about that aligns with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

Adrian's project “Effects of Constraint-Based Enhancements on the Efficiency of a Backtracking Sudoku Solver” aims to optimize a Sudoku solver backtracking algorithm to increase its efficiency whilst maintaining the program's accuracy. His project aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #4 Quality Education.

Broadcom Coding with Commitment® provides a catalyst for students to learn basic coding and AI as essential problem-solving tools in STEM and fosters active civic engagement by “thinking globally while acting locally.”

Adrian says, "Coding was central to every aspect of this project. Rather than manually testing Sudoku puzzles, I was able to write two distinct algorithmic solvers in code: a standard backtracking algorithm and an enhanced version that incorporates logic-based preprocessing to analyze board positions before beginning."
