I spent years of my life as a kid visiting my momâs Pueblo and making memories with my family there.
Being able to make new memories, but now with my mom present, will always hit different.
Feliz dĂa de La Madres a todas las mamĂĄs que cambiaron una generaciĂłn entera porque tuvieron la valentĂa, visiĂłn, y la mentalidad de âno me rajoâ. Your legacy will live on for generations to come. âĽď¸
And thank you for the wisdom youâve always shared through your stories because that now shapes how we speak and transmit on stages. Youâre with us on every stage we take.
Youâre the blueprint. đ¤
The start to a new month doing what I love. đ¤đ
What we covered:
Creating a leader story based on lived experience, not what a leader âshould beâ
Common workplace scenarios where you have to communicate clearly & efficiently + the frameworks to do so.
Including:
- Presenting a new idea
- 3 ways to answer questions off the cuff, depending on the type of question you receive.
- How to be active participants in meetings, a tu manera.
Iâm now taking training & workshop inquiries for June! đ¤

As a facilitator I always ask myself âcan I show you instead of tell you? If I canât show you, and have to tell you, can you do?â
This helps me create engaging, immersive, & relevant learning experiences.

I often share this reflection with my mom when Iâm feeling accomplished or something really cool happens:
I am no one special. The accomplishment isnât just because Iâm âgood at what I doâ. My talents are cool, but they also had the privilege to see the light of day. Iâve been able to express, to explore, and to create more or less, freely.
Being born into the exact life that I did, though not perfect, is special.
There is someone out there with similar thoughts that canât express.
Someone with the brain of a literal genius, that doesnât have the access to practice their craft.
Someone who didnât get a chance from the very beginning.
I try to unlearn the voices that tell me that I need to live up to anything or that I have to make my momâs efforts of immigrating to the U.S. when she was 15, worth it.
But tbh. I think I do. I do need to live up to that story. I have an opportunity to live my story because she changed hers.
Thatâs pretty damn powerful.
Taking the Tedx stage felt like an accomplishment, not because of its name, but because I continue to try to show up in spaces that once intimidated me, as me.
Iâll be sharing more on my talk across platforms in the coming days & weeks. You know, this introvert is introvertingâŚ
For now, thank you to every single person that talked me through the âyesâ
My childhood friends, Avalon & Rosy
who reminded me who tf I am
The entire Latina, Presente cohort. They were the first to hear my completed speech & were so encouraging the entire way to the stage.

Everyone!!
I was in my shell about this, but excited to share more about the experience & my talk. đ
The thing weâve been told to dilute, is actually our biggest strength to lead, communicate, & connect.
Gracias for inviting me to share the stage and space with your community of incredible entrepreneurs.

Thank you to for having me at your EMPOWER US 2026 summit.
Storytelling like our Abuelitas is a workshop rooted in cultura, connection, & public speaking skills building. If your campus or organization would like to make this available for your students and teams, reach out. Would love to make it happen!
In the middle of everything we have going on daily, how often do we sit with the current data to inform our strategy? It can almost feel like a âwaste of time when you could use the time to apply to jobs insteadâ. But, we need updated information to strategize.
It takes time, diligence, & more time. So, weâre dedicating some time to it in community!
Hint: The data may show public speaking should likely be a part of your strategy. đ

As First Gen professionals that end up getting opportunities in these spaces, there seems to be an unspoken rule that is unfairly a part of the game: be almost damn near perfect đ
Reasons why you may use filler words:
1. Itâs a habit.
2. Weâre thinking through what to say next
3. Signaling to the receiver that weâre not done speaking (just trying to find the words)
4. To help âsoftenâ our delivery
5. Giving our audience time to âcatch-upâ to what weâre saying
6. Emotions like nerves, hesitation, even excitement
A few ways to reduce filler words:
1. Pause. Youâre often in control of the pace. Give yourself a quick pause before continuing.
2. Get used to âseeingâ & âhearingâ the periods, commas, etc in your sentences. Punctuation exists when we speak, too.
3. Right before speaking, repeat your most used filler word hella times. Itâll make you aware of the habit right on the spot.
Sin pena, whatâs your favorite filler word/phrase? đ¤
My favorite is âyou know?â đ
