In a recent interview, Dr. Susanna Søberg shared what her research actually shows about sauna and cold exposure.
1–2 minutes is when your body first begins adapting to the cold in a way that creates long-term benefits. (This what she’s referring to when she says “1-2 minutes” in the clip)
From there, the full protocol used in her studies was:
• ~11 total minutes of cold per week
spread across short, 1–5 minute dips (2–3 times weekly)
• Plus 2–3 sauna sessions
(10–15 minutes each)
