Wow. What an incredible day for Chris Rhett!

Chris finished his first Ironman at Ironman Maryland yesterday with an impressive 11:06, and he did it with tremendous determination.

He showed up day after day, ready for the challenge, balancing training with work and family while taking the time to truly understand his training and what it would take to execute on race day.

And execute he did.

Chris laid it all out there and had an incredible day. What a team Coach S S and Chris have made, and we’re already looking forward to what the next season brings.

Chris embodies the FLYT principles we value: racing for a reason bigger than yourself, embracing the challenge, and always being there for the people around you.

Congratulations, Chris. You are an IRONMAN!

You don’t have to break the bank to have structure, expert guidance, and a community behind you.

Meet Jen Kristoff Miller, one of our local FLYT Plan athletes who took on her first super sprint triathlon at Portage Lakes in Ohio!

Jen followed a FLYT structured training plan while taking advantage of our education, resource center, community, private swim consultations, and summer open water practices to prepare for race day.

As a busy mom with children leaving the nest or getting close, Jen is embracing a new chapter and making time for herself, her fitness, and her health.

And she did it with her family there cheering her across the finish line.

Congratulations, Jen! We are so proud of you and everything you’ve accomplished. This is just the beginning! If you are interested in becoming a member of our FLYT Plan crew, check out our bio or DM’s and will send you how to sign up!

Congratulations to Devin Javens, who completed her first adult triathlon at the Redhawk Triathlon outside of Cincinnati and came away as the overall female winner of the sprint distance.

Devin is a former collegiate swimmer at Dension University and the daughter of FLYT Performance owner and head coach Coach Amy Javens . After taking some time away from competitive sport following college, Devin found her way back to racing and decided it was time to see what she could do.

The answer? There’s definitely something still there.

Devin had the fastest swim and second-fastest bike of the day, putting together a strong first adult triathlon and giving us plenty to look forward to.

She dabbled in a few youth triathlons as a kid, so in some ways, this weekend felt like things coming full circle. A little girl who once followed her mom into the sport is now stepping onto the same starting line.

Maybe this is less about passing the torch and more about realizing the torch was never really put down.

And perhaps the best part?

When asked how it felt to be back racing, Devin simply said:

“That was fun.”

That’s exactly where we want this journey to start. Keep it fun. Keep building. Keep showing up. And with bigger goals already on the horizon for next season, we have a feeling this is just the beginning.

Welcome back to racing, Devin. We’re excited to see where you take it.

Congratulations to Pittsburgh gal and FLYT athlete Lauren Ascah on a strong, well executed race at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France!

Lauren is a wife, mother of three young daughters, and a busy professional who still finds a way to make focused training a priority.

Going into the World Championship, our focus was specificity. The Nice course demands a very different kind of ex*****on. You climb for nearly half the bike, descend, and then have to find your base watts again late in the ride before running consistently off the bike.

We spent months preparing Lauren to climb effectively, settle into the descent, and then rebuild her power for the final quarter of the race.

She executed a strong swim, bike and run and, most importantly, trusted the work we put in.

Lauren, congratulations on an incredible World Championship experience. We’re proud of the way you showed up and executed.

And we’re even more excited about what comes next.

.3!

Congratulations to two FLYT Performance athletes who both competed as collegiate runners and continue to find their edge long after college.

🔹Dannah Javens took the overall female win at the Sunbury Half Marathon near Columbus as she builds toward the Columbus Marathon. In her third year of medical school at Ohio State, Dannah Javens is proving that a demanding career and a competitive athletic life can coexist.

🔹Christopher Verstandig competed in the USAT&F 20K Road Championships in Connecticut last weekend, crossing the line in 1:09 during an especially busy season at work. That’s discipline when life gets full.

Both are Coach Amy Javens athletes, and both represent what we believe at FLYT:

Your collegiate athletic career may end, but your athletic story doesn’t have to.

FLYT is here to guide athletes into their next chapter, helping them continue to compete, evolve and discover just how much more they have in them.

Good luck to FLYT 1-1 Athlete Lauren Ascah as she takes on the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France this weekend!

Just 8 months postpartum, Lauren qualified for the biggest stage and she did it while raising three young daughters and working a demanding finance job.

Lauren embodies the FLYT athlete mindset: do exactly what’s asked, execute the critical paces/power, and keep pushing the ceiling higher.

Coach Amy Javens shares a bit about coaching Lauren, “Our focus has been simple: a steady swim, a strategic bike, smart climbing early, then regaining her base race watts for the second half of the ride to right a tight watt band and running with mindfulness.”

Specificity streamlines training. For an athlete with limited time, there is no room for frivolous training. Every session has a purpose and rest in between sessions is prioritized.

We can’t wait to see what this weekend has in store for Lauren and we are even more excited about the bigger goals ahead.

Go Lauren. You’ve earned your place on this start line.

Just got off a IMWC 70.3 Nice, France pre-race chat with one of my FLYT Performance I Triathlon & Endurance Coaching athletes heading to Europe next weekend. A few quick bike-day reminders:

🔹Bike: Ride the bike you’re strongest and most confident on. Tri bike or road bike — confidence wins.

🔹Wheels: Disc is absolutely an option for climbing. Be more conservative with your front wheel if you’re expecting crosswinds.

🔹Climbing: Know your base watts and stay steady. If you spike, keep it controlled under 60w spike. Save those legs!

🔹Descending: Safety first. Forget the training numbers, be technical, enjoy the scenery and keep your legs moving with a few easy spins.

🔹Nutrition: Fuel before and during the climb because technical descents may not give you many opportunities to grab nutrition.

🔹And when the course flattens out, get back to your base watts and ride with constant tension AP close to NP.

Race smart. Trust your training. And have FUN!

Good luck to everyone racing 70.3s in Europe next weekend. I’ll be cheering you on!
