Connection Pointe Christian Church is taking shape in Avon. Precast panels are being set, one by one, and the vision is quickly becoming reality.

We are excited to be working on this project alongside Connection Pointe Christian Church, KBSO Consulting LLC, Mader Design LLC, Lynch, Harrison & Brumleve, Inc., Brandt Construction, Inc..

We traded screen-shared PDFs and virtual discussions for hands-on collaboration this week. Scaled drawings and 3D-printed equipment brought the design process to life where teams tested, rearranged, and problem-solved in real time.
Getting designers and user groups in the same room means ideas can be challenged and decisions can be made in the moment. The engagement we were able to foster gave stakeholders the opportunity to lead, iterate, and shape the design, creating better-informed decisions and stronger sense of ownership and familiarity with their space long before move-in.

The first of its kind in the state of Indiana, Riley Children’s Health has opened a new Pediatric Medical-Behavioral Health Unit at Riley Hospital for Children in downtown Indianapolis. The 11-bed unit provides dedicated care for pediatric patients with medical needs who also require behavioral and mental health treatment.

Designing a space around these complex needs required a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach. Throughout the process, design discussions revolved around anticipated services, staffing models, patient conditions, safety requirements, and more to create a space that supports both care and connection.

This unit includes an open milieu, small group room, sensory room, and seclusion room, along with spaces for one-on-one care and therapeutic programming that encourages interaction among patients.

Patient safety and security were central to the design, while colorful finishes, curved forms, and thoughtfully integrated systems like color-changing lights create a welcoming environment. These design elements were intentionally incorporated to promote positive moods, provide moments of distraction and help create a more comfortable experience for patients during their stay.

The Spolnik Family Commons sets the tone for the renovation of Indiana University’s School of Dentistry in downtown Indianapolis. Dr. Kenneth (DDS’75, Endo’78) and Beverly Spolnik’s gift provided IU with the funding to transform outdated clinical space into a thriving gathering spot that promotes community, connection, and belonging among all the students, staff, and faculty at the Dental school.

The project team included HEAPY, Design 27, Four Point Design, Lynch, Harrison & Brumleve, Inc., and Weddle Bros Construction Co..

Join us in recognizing Duro and Ethan, our summer interns, as we celebrate National Intern Day.

Duro came to us from Ball State University’s Master of Architecture program, where he enrolled after graduating from Covenant University in Nigeria. One key takeaway from his time at aD has been seeing first-hand how investing in people leads to stronger collaboration and greater outcomes in projects and throughout the office.

Ethan spent the summer working alongside our healthcare team where he learned that a core principle at aD is treating clients as an extension of our own team. Ethan joins us from Miami University (OH).

Indiana University Health broke ground at the beginning of June on the new IU Health West Lafayette Hospital. This project will be the first full-service hospital for the city of West Lafayette, offering a variety of services including emergency care, inpatient care, surgical services and advanced laboratory and medical imaging services. arcDESIGN healthcare team leaders Hayley, Lindsey and Jenner attended the ceremonial groundbreaking and were able to stand alongside IU Health leaders and other key stakeholders as shovels hit dirt.
