Grow as a disciple and get practical tools for making disciples Discipleship is a lifestyle ... it is helping people to form their lives around Jesus as Lord.

Discipleship.org aggregates and promotes leading voices, resources, and actionable content on discipleship. With the input and partnership of voices like Jim Putman, Robert Coleman, Alan Hirsch, Bill Hull, Bobby Harrington, and Robby Gallaty (among others), we have identified the key elements of discipleship as a framework. We move people convinced about discipleship into this framework and out to effective practice. We champion simple, reproducible practices that make discipleship a practical reality.

Knowing Scripture matters deeply.

But the goal of Scripture isn't simply to know more about Jesus.

It's to become more like Jesus.

A disciple learns from Jesus, follows Jesus, obeys Jesus, and increasingly allows every part of life to be shaped by him.

So here's a question worth sitting with today:
What has Jesus actually changed in me lately?

When Am I Ready to Make Disciples? 10/02/2026

When am I ready to make disciples?

It’s a question many followers of Jesus wrestle with.

Do I need to know more Scripture first?
Do I need to be further along in my own faith?
How do I know when it’s time to invite someone else into the journey?

When we look at Jesus’ ministry, we see something important: His disciples were still being formed while they were already beginning to join Him in the work.

Disciple making isn’t about reaching a point where you have everything figured out. It’s about following Jesus, growing in obedience, listening to the Holy Spirit, and learning to invest in the people He puts around you.

So where do you begin?

Read this week’s new article:

When Am I Ready to Make Disciples? When are you actually ready to make disciples?Do you need to know more?Be more mature?Have followed Jesus for a certain number of years?Jesus didn’t wait until His disciples had everything figured…

Sometimes the next step in discipleship is simpler than we think.

Forgive the person.
Serve the neighbor.
Share the gospel.
Take the next step.

Following Jesus isn’t only about learning his teachings. It’s about living them.

Have you ever tried to be the answer for someone who's hurting?

Alice Matagora has discipled many women over the years. She's also a trained therapist. And her biggest takeaway might surprise you:

"Don't be Jesus. Lead them to Jesus."

Our job as disciple makers isn't to fix people. It's to help them get into the Word and build a real relationship with Him. That hunger that shows up in brokenness? Only Jesus can satisfy it.

Who are you pointing to Him this week?

What is discipleship?

Discipleship is more than knowing what Jesus taught. It is choosing to follow Jesus, becoming more like Jesus, and helping others follow Him too.

It happens as we:

Know Jesus.
Obey His teachings.
Become more like Him.
Walk alongside others.
Make disciples who make disciples.

Discipleship isn’t simply a program or a class—it’s a way of life.

Disciple making at home rarely happens through perfectly planned moments. It happens when we choose to be present and point our children toward Jesus in the middle of ordinary life.

So much of parenting is teaching our children how to walk with God when we are not beside them.

We teach them to pray.
We help them recognize truth.
We model repentance and forgiveness.
We show them what it looks like to trust Jesus.

And then, little by little, we let them go.

That is the heart of disciple making: helping someone become a faithful follower of Jesus who can help others follow Him too.

The goal was never to make our children dependent on us forever. It was to prepare them to depend on Jesus wherever He leads them.

I spent half my life trying to be more wantable. 💛

Alice Matagora shares one of her oldest wounds: the belief that she was unwanted from before she was even born. She didn't grow up in a Christian home, so she spent years working to earn a place.

Then she saw God through a new lens. His kindness leads us to repentance and new ways of living. It overflows into shalom, deep in our very beings.

He is for you. Not against you.
